Don't know if you saw that C1 in Corvette Fever. It was white with a red interior and was immaculate. That started life as a salvage car.

I think you have to look at the options and the condition. I once bought a 1985 Corvette and saved a few bucks by buying one that wasn't in immaculate condition. I think the one I bought would have cost far more than an immaculate one to get it into first class condition but that wasn't the point of buying it. I bought it to drive it and own a Corvette without bankrupting myself. Nothing worse than having a car you can't afford to drive.

I agree that if you could afford it, you should buy a clean title car but if this one has low miles and will end up cheap and you just want it for yourself, to druive and have fun in,then it's your choice and it may be your only choice. Just keep the rebuild costs low so when you sell it, you can sell it cheap too. Sometimes these cars simply provide long and cheap service to a line of owners who otherwise couldn't afford a Corvette. Just know what you're doing.

Look at it this way, here in the UK you can buy a brand new car and a year later, it's worth half of what it cost. I've avoided cars in the past which I now wish I'd bought as I lost just as much money buying cars I didn't really want and losing money every time I got fed up with them. What do you want, ten boring cars or a Vette for life?

Does anyone have any recommendations for mechanics in the bay area? Preferably the south bay? I'm looking for someone to do a thorough inspection of this bad boy before I decide on purchasing it.

Thanks!

I say if its an ok car buy it, your not going to drive the title so thats the smallest part of the deal.
Its a car... Not an investment, we all loose thousands on these things everytime we buy them and then throw rocks at people that find deals like this.

15k? what color is it? If its black, i'll buy it.(if you don't want it).
If your trying to make money on this car its not going to happen. If you want to buy this car drive it for 4-5 years its a good deal. But it is a good point to check with your insurance co. to see if they will insure it, also not a bad idea to take it to a mechanic/bodyshop.-let us know.
