Default C6 Shifter in a C5?

I know it has been brought up before but what was the final answer? Could it be done?

Why would you want to do this?

Spend less, & get a better part.

Buy a Hurst.

I've tried the Hurst Shifter and do not like it. A shorter throw is not my objective. I'm mainly doing it for the height and whereas I have cut my stock as low as possible, the C6 shifter is lower and I get to retain the nice smooth feel.

I hear you and I have heard that from so many others. I guess I have been very lucky that my Hurst has never made any noise and has worked flawlessly for 2 years now.

Mine is perfectly quiet and shifts smooth as silk.

Its not the noise although I have heard about this but there is a solution for that anyway.

To me the throw is just too short as is the Ripper. Would be great for the 1/4 mi but doesnt play a roll on a roadcourse. The stock is just fine, at least it is for me. I just dont like the height of the shifter, even after I cut it. If you take the *** off, the C5 Shifter is really tall!

I had the rattle problem but corrected it with Teflon Tape. Since it's been great and wouldn't have anything else. I hate the wander wands that just slop all over the place. My .02 Merry Christmas.

For you guys that don't like the Hurst, have you attempted to adjust the spring rates in the shifter?

Haven't seen anyone post about the C6 shifter going into the C5. So I guess the jury is still out on that one. Would be interesting to know though.

I had in the weakest spring set. Didn't like the noise and the shifting, if a long day of driving and shifting a lot, was tiresome.

The shifter may be a direct fit on a C5, BUT that doesn't mean it will be an improvement nor will it shift like a C6. The C6 also changed some internal linkage in the transmission to make it shift better.

The point is that the C6 is a SHORT shifter and it's STOCK.. So one should benefit from short throws from a quiet stock shifter.. There should be a bunch of them hitting the used market soon as they are replaced with the Rippers and Hurst, Etc....

Noone ever said it would shift like a C6. And noone should expect it to.

Its the height of the shifter that is attractive while being able to maintain the same C5 mechanical throw. I bet you'll see lots of C5 owners switching once they find out it works.

Please let me know what you find out. I also asked Bob at Fichtner for a quote.

If your try it and it works, please let me know.

I was debating installing a Hurst Shifter and there is much discussion about the tranny vibration with the Hurst.

Best of luck!!!!
