Does anyone know if having the 1998 Corvette Indy Pace Car editon should demand a premium in the pre-owned marketplace at this time?
I have the opportunity for one that has 39,000 miles on it and appears to be clean otherwise. The guy is asking $35,000 according to what I can find that seems a little steep. Any opinions.

At the risk of offending a brother forum member, someone would have to pay ME $35K to drive a purple car with yellow wheels. Guess there's an *** for every seat but I can't understand the attraction of dressing up a beautiful car in a clown suit.
It is really ugly in my opinion, and there is one on the forum for sale with 58k miles for $ 21,000. That price (35k) is crazy, even if it had 2k miles.

i'm guessing anyone with cajones big enough to drive the 98 pace isn't worried about what people say.

I'll throw the old cliche out there ... the value of a car is determined by what you are willing to pay for it.
I wouldn't pay $35k for a 98 PC, but somebody else might. I think you answered your own question when you said you found other cars, with lower mileage, for less ...
Sorry if I offended you. I can only state my own opinion and opinions are like asses too; everybody has one. Mine is no more valuable than anyone elses. Some people like the subdued look and some like the "Look at me!" look, that's why they make different colors!

My godfather has one and that was the vette that I droold (sp) over for 6 yrs before I finally got one of my own.
What I will add is it does demand a prmium, sure you can paint any vette that way and even purchase the decals, but there were only (i don't know the exact number) but somewhere in the nieghborhood of 1200-1500 made.
Is 35K the right price I dont know, my godfathers has about 16K on it and has won numerous show awards so to me that one is worthy

there were 1163 '98 pace cars made.
while I agree that with the current market the Pace Cars value is way down like the rest of the C5's, BUT it WILL be one of the first C5's to start going up in value.
you don't have to like them, BUT you can't help but look at them whenever you see one!
and THAT was the intention that GM had when it was designed.
and besides, after owning something as unique as a '98 Pace Car, I could NEVER own a PLAIN corvette ever again!
The book shows it at $32,500 in good shape and $41,000 in exelent shape This is about 7 to 10,000 above the covertible book. It all boils down to what you think it's worth to you.
From: Piedmont, SC Currently Own: 99 Nassau blue FRC. Previously Owned: 84,95,98 Indy Pace,01 Z06
I like them also, but they are not for everyone! I also have won numerous awards with mine, and have got alot of compliments, and alot of people who say it's ugly. So to each their own. I miss my Pace Car, but I would never trade my Z in for one. It is definately one of a kind. I never did really like the yellow wheels either, but after a little while the whole car will grow on you.

if it's worth 35,000.00 to you then do it.
I paid $38,500.00 for mine in 2001.
Merry christmas!
Question: If you paid more for the car to begin with than say the average 98 C5, and you say that they will be the first ones to go up in value, Wouldn't that deal be a break even?
