I haven't had much of a problem scraping, mostly due to not having it very long. I have andys frame savers sitting in a box waiting to put them on when my Ghl's get here this week. 
Lowering is on the agenda also, so I'm sure they'll really come in handy then.

BTW, there is a minor aesthetic advantage to trimming the air dam. As you have probably noticed, it is not unusual to see the three pieces hang by slightly different amounts, giving a "ragged" or uneven appearance to the bottom edge. When you cut it, instead of measuring back 1" from the edge, trim it for equal expose.
