Are these zinc coated?

Please don't say yes. If I spend any more before the Christmas visa comes in, my wife will have me singing suprano.

I just knew my post would stir up a lotta questions so here goes.
Nates Drilled and Slotted Rotors are comparable to Baers
They are Zinc coated.
2 rows of holes between slots
the hats appear to be integral (not 2 piece bolted on)
If we can get up to about 20
Pricing will be at $270/set 2 Front 2 Rear
Shipping extra About $20 Lower 48
if'in you want a looksee go to http://www.corvettegarage.com
IMHO they are Awsome.
mrgil

I'm going to ask Nate to post some Pics and fill in any blanks I left.

I've researched the heck outta these and IMHO the sportbrakes aren't even a close second to Nates.
Download and print a pic of each and you'll see what I mean. For instance sportbrakes drilled & slotted are only one row of holes between slots. Also Look at thickness of firepath and you'll see what I mean.

Thickness not WIDTH!

You wasted alot of time doing research. The baer enhanced rotors and the sportbrakes, rotors are exactly the same.. the fire paths are dictated by the pads not the rotors..

these Baer enhanced rototrs have been selling for 599 on this forum for five years. IT took sportbrakes to offer the same rotor at a fair price... the Baer rotors where never worth 599. both of these rotors are wholesaled for 160 dollars a set.. the sportbrakes just never added the "Corvette Tax"

That's quite a statement that sportbrakes are not even a close second to Nates. Is this based on knowledgeable research or research based on photos; photos mean nothing. (Ever been to a restaurant and the menu shows the prefect meal, and it comes out looking very different?)
I have the sportbrakes and they are excellent; especially for the price. Before installing I put them on a lathe and checked the runout of each rotor with a dial indicator. I was amazed at the specs; these are some fantastic rotors.
So, what type of research, and please no mention of photos, no mention of he said/she said this about how great their product is, only verifiable research such as runout specs (independently done), metallurgical tests, etc.

(I have nothing against Nate's rotors, I have never owned them; therefore, never tested them. Just curious as to the statement made by the person who started this thread.)

Wow! Don't get to up tight about ones perception of what's better!! If you look at the two pics posted above Nates do look different and I would think would look better on the car than sportbrakes. The link is now www.sportbrakes.com it changed. And they have what looks like three rows of holes between the slots. And the slots are at a different angle. Hope I don't get flamed for my visual skills!

I think I like Nates better if he could include shipping in the price. Go for it MrGil and see what he has to say.

THey Look different??????????????????????????????? ???????????????
They are exactly the same !and BTW many people who have ordered sportbrakes rotors and mentioned that they were a CF memeber got free shipping.. sportbrakes has alwaays been www.sportbrakes.com ,not www.sportsbrakes.com .
at 249 and free shipping for the exact rotor sportbrakes rotors are hard to beat. What about all those people who bought the baer enhanced rotors for 599 when they cost the vendor 160. All these rotors are cast iron blanks. 15 dollars each 25 dollars worth of CNCing and zinc coating= total 160. NAPA offers C5 corvette rotors for 20 dollars each retail.

Well if you know what it takes to create these maybe you could put a package together and offer a GP. Happy New Year.

Bill:
Exactly the same?????????????? Even my old tired eyes can see some differences. Different number of rows of drilling, slots that go to the edge on one and not the other, etc. I do know that the Baer Eradispeed rotor blanks are made by DBA in Australia. I don't know who makes the rotor blanks for the SportBrake units.
Do the SportBrake slots face the same way on the vehicle as the Baer units? The slots on the Baer units are designed such that the end of slot at the outer edge "leads" the end of the slot on the inner edge when rotating. That's why some people see a Baer rotor and say they are "installed wrong". They are not, they are designed to rotate that way.
The internal cooling passages of the Baer Eradispeed rotors have what DBA calls a "Kangaroo Paw" design that require the rotor to rotate a certain direction only. In fairness to SportBrake, I am not familiar with their internal cooling passageways, so I can't speak to their design.
Go to www.dba.com.au for more info on the rotors used by Baer.

I'm just a dummy looking to get a decent set of rotors that will look good, fill out the wheel well, and NOT RUST. I was pretty excited about the GP, but I'm no brake expert.

What do I want?

Hey Mac (I like that) , I'm not a rocket scientist either when it comes to brakes or rotors. I've looked around at a lot of rotors and have decided to go with the Sportbrakes myself. A lot of people here on the forum have been happy with them. They have a few different styles to choose from: drilled only, slotted only, drilled and slotted, slotted and dimpled, etc. Check out their website as show above.

mrgil I'm not trying to hijack your thread just adding my .02 cents to Mac's question. Good luck with the GP (I got in on the Halltech Stinger).
