I ended up ripping out the 2.73's and putting in 3.42's. Had I bought the 3.15's I may not have had to change.

M6 feels good shifting, sounds awesome with exhaust and responds really good with simple bolt ons, and more hp

I had to drive 2.5 hours from home to buy my new 04 vert with an MN6. In my experience it was alot harder to find an MN6 vs an A4. Love it but would not want it for daily bumper to bumper traffic. I use mine strictley as a toy. Good luck and hope you make the right decision.

Keep searching for what you really want and don't compromise. I bought an A4 because that is what I wanted and am very happy with it but I must admit an A4 Vette isn't quite the same as an M6 Vette. My next Vette will probably have an M6 but for now I am happy with the A4, way too much traffic in my area for as much as I drive this Vette.

My company car’s an auto and I’m glad because I’m in it five days a week and Seattle’s got plenty of hills downtown. It's a Ford Escape with four cup holders and plenty of room in the back too.

Still waiting for that Corvette SUV. JK.

I know there are plenty of Corvette daily drivers here loving their A4’s

When I bought mine there was no debate. Corvette=manual transmission=sport driving=tires spinning in first, hit second, rearend goes east-west. Forget the 2oclock-7oclock position, lefthand on wheel, right hand on joystick. " the one the car came with!"

If you really want the 6-speed, keep searching until you find what you want. You don't want to buy a car and then be unhappy a few months down the road.

That being said, there is nothing at all wrong with getting an A4, especially with the 3.15 rear gears.

I've owned both. Buy the car, options etc you want. Don't settle. Both transmissions have their pluses and minuses. Neither is the BEST or PERFECT transmission for EVERY occasion.

Tom

PS: I'd own either and will consider the new 6 speed auto when I buy my C6 next year. But I do love my current car/transmission combo.

My 2004 is a MN6, I got it because I didn't want to feel like I just changed colors, when I traded in my 1999 automatic. The gas mileage is better with the MN6, both around town, and on the road.

You guys are killing me!! Somehow I knew that is what you all would say... I've been searching for a 99 or 2000 (in my $ range) 6 speed with ALL the options for months now. I am extremely picky!

Listen to my luck buying a vette...I have found 3 corvettes that I was ready to buy, loan check in my hand. The first one was being sold as I ARRIVED at the dealer to buy it. The second sold two hours before I could get to the dealer 3 hours driving time away from me. The third sold the day before I could get to the dealer, again, 3 hours away from me. TALK ABOUT DISCOURAGING

God laughing at me-->

I see a ton of corvettes for sale with all the options, BUT they are all automatics. I thought I may compromise with the trans to get a vette.

6 speed---Personally, I wouldn't take one if you gave it to me (well, maybe if it were free). If you live anywhere you have traffic congestion--forget it. However, to each his own. If a 6 speed is really what you want, keep searching--you'll find it and you'll be happy. Good luck w/ your search.

If you're going to have to drive it everyday and have lots of traffic to deal with then you might like a auto better. But if you don't, I can tell you there is nothing like driving a vette with a manual. Running up through the gears is a blast.

WOW!!!!! Rough Crowd!!!

Let's see................I'm not THAT old.............and last time I checked, I wasn't a woman...............then I must be a posser (hahaha, it's actually POSER)! At least I'm a poser that can spell! Just Playin' witcha!

Sorry for hi jacking your post, but with all of the used C5's available since the C6 (and probably more coming soon with the release of the 06 Z06), you shouldn't settle and get what you want. Drive both of them and see which you like better. Good Luck!

You might also want to check the C5 for sale section, maybe there's one in there that'll grab your fancy. I'd think that the ones for sale on this forum would be taken care of better than one at a dealer, because the Corvette owners here are enthusiasts that take good care of their stuff.

I went with an A4, because of my style of driving. I go as fast as possible, light to light. And here in Phoenix, there are many lights.

I learned on a stick, and had many manuals after that. They are great transmissions. But for me, there has always been "something" about the feel of alot of ponies in front of a good auto.

And lately, I have thanked my lucky stars that I dont have a Column Lock to bypass. Which is an issue that MN6 guys have to deal with.

If you do decide to get an A4, make sure you get the 3.15 gears(as stated before). I would also recommend a predator tuner for any auto A4 owner, it really brings the tranny to life. That is if you like to get a good long chirp and a sideways motion when shifting into 2nd at WOT.

Dont listen to any fools who tell you MN6's are better than A4's. Thats just BS. they are both great transmissions. In closing, I perfer the luxury of an auto.

Good Luck,
AZC5

ugh........... I hate this argument.
I ended up with an A4 because I couldnt pass up the deal and the car had all the other options I wanted. I haven't looked back. Either way you will get a world class car.
