Drive it for about 20 feet with the brakes on and the rust will instantly disappear.

Rotors seem to be the topic of the New Year so far.

Know all about the rusty rotor hats.....Gonna bead blast the hat portion and VHT them this summer. Meantime, mine look like yours...... only I'm not going to worry about it. Rains like H&@L up here all winter. I'll fix it in the summer. I have Bilsteins and a Haltech arriving anytime to worry about installing....Much more important to me.

My rotors look the same. When it clears up I am going to try and paint them.

My rotor hats don't rust ... they are sort of a semi-flat black, so they may have been painted by the previous owner. I know that the rotors were replaced under warranty less than a year ago, so they may have been painted by the dealer (I read some time ago that Ken Fitchener will paint the rotor hats for you for a nominal charge, so other dealers may do so also). Whoever did it did a neat job. The bearing surfaces of my rotors sometime develop light rust, but that goes away immediately upon use.

Your car is looking good and the mods are very nice. Get her cleaned up, wait for a nice day and then let us know how the mods perform.

I feel your pain - my car is a mess right now as well - it's my dialy driver and about 10 days of straight rain.

Anyway, I love your mods and was considering a similar setup and using Andy as well.

Two questions: how long did he need your car? and are you concerned when you need to re-smog here in California?

Take care.

I gave my car to him Monday and picked it up Friday. He didn't need it that long, those were just the only days I had available to do the dropoff/pickup. In fact, it was on Thursday that I called him and asked him to add on the headers while he had it, to which he replied no problem. From his attitude that I got, my guess is he could have done it all the same day if that's what I needed.... ... I'm pretty sure he'd have no problem getting it all done if you gave it to him one morning and picked it up the next evening though....

As far as smog....I was concerned too. But Andy convinced me I've got a high likelihood of passing with them....they are kinda hard to notice and all the smog stuff is in place. He also told me that if I couldn't get it smogged "he could". All that and the fact that it JUST went through smog and I don't have to worry about it for 2 more years convinced me the plusses outweighed the minuses as far as smog goes....But hey, it's me and I'm like that. I'm the idiot that put a zz4 in an '84 here in Cali.....talk about smog illegal! I tend to "live for the day" with my cars.....
