I always try to make the detailing on the car last as long as possible. If I can avoid dust, water on the road, etc. I always try to do so. My car doesn't go out in the rain. Occassionally I have been caught out in the rain but in Mobile, Al. where we have about 65 inches of rain every year it is hard to avoid all the rain showers.

I try to avoid water but I won't go to the extreme and do a U turn. I do however go slow over the water as not to kick to much water up. Probably makes anybody behind mad but who cares.

the ONLY reason I would drive around a puddle of water is so I didn't carry water on my rear tires-in case I was driving aggressively

Depends. If turning around has offered me the opportunity to keep my car dry yet reach my destination, then yes I have. If not I try to take it as slow as possible without getting shot at in order to keep that baby as clean as possible.

Have only turned around once... poruing rain and I noticed a jacked up truck ahead of me up to mid tire in water (road was flooding). I pulled a U and found another way home. Hydrolock is not something I want to deal with.

I'll drive 2 miles out of the way to avoid a water puddle. The vette has only seen rain 4 times in 3 years.
