I recently installed the Breathless Performance shifter and really like it. There is a great article over on Z06vette.com by a guy who had a B&M and switched to the BPP. He states that the BPP is better than the ripper...this is, of course, subjective for each person.
I love my new shifter and couldn't go back to stock after experiencing the precision shifting of the new one. There will be an increase in internal noise/vibration with any of the aftermarket shifters, but the tradeoff is worth it to me. The increase in noise is insignificant to me.
Another thing I like about the BPP is that it offers adjustability which the Ripper and Hurst do not. That can be a big factor when setting up the fit and reach of the new shifter. My new shifter allows me to keep my seat back a bit further because 1st is now where N used to be with the stock shifter...a big difference!
Good luck with your choice, but do at least check the BPP shifter out before you make a final decision.
I got the Hurst and like many thought the shifting was too stiff at first but now can't imagine driving without it. I'm not sure if it loosened up or I got used to it or both.
Hurst here. I used the Hurst classic white billard ball **** for the C5 vette. It is a little larger and heavier than a standard classic. No noise or vibration at all. I power shift at 5500/6500rpm and haven't missed a shift yet, know I can't say that about the stock shifter. Also, the hurst has adjustable springs so you can adjust tension how you like. I used the heavy inner and lighter outer springs (each side). One thru four is like a knife thru butter, but hitting fifth/sixth is a little harder because of the progressive nature of the springs. However, if it's to hard shifting you can always put in light/light springs and also back off the tension set screws.

The Hurst is outstanding and after a week or two, you can't imagine not owning one. It was my favorite mod on my first Vette. Stock feels loose after you make the switch.
