Mine's been on for 3 weeks or so. She seems to have a little better throttle response, no issues with the hood, and no codes.

I've had the Stinger intake for about a year now, but I had to remove it because of a high pitched whistling that it caused. Not sure why my car does it and others don't, but I just couldn't take it anymore. No problem with the stock filter back in place (the engine is otherwise stock).

To me, that sounds like it was not installed properly. I could be wrong.

I bought one on the GP and love it. Easy install, definite increase in performance and works great with my Borla Stingers as well. Money well spent.

bxblkvert,

The HP increase from a cat-back is very minimal on a mildly-modded C5, so almost all the gains I saw were from the intake mod. Generally-speaking, a cat-back's main purpose is for sound.

By the way, install instructions and the cold air mod can be found at:

I have an 04 Z06 with a BW and it throws ZERO codes.

Here's my review:

Great looking intake, Huge filter, install was straight forward and very simple.

For some reason mine was rubbing on the hood liner pushing the hood up a little at the front. This doesn't really bother me.

First time I started the car after the install I could hear air going into the filter over my Borla Stingers. Love it.

Took the car for a drive and it didn't seem like there was any Seat of the pants difference. I also noted that the car seemed to be running rich since the install. I drove close to 100 miles and brought the car home. Later that night I decided to check to see if I had any codes (No SES light ever appeared) sure enough and regeatably I had two codes: Lean Bank one and Lean Bank two. I decide to go through the connections and tighten them all down again. Everything seemed to be seated properly and the clamps seemed to need a little tightening.

Fire the car back up after tightening everything up and the codes went away.

The next day I decide to go for another 100 mile ride out into the desert. Just to make sure that I didn't have any issues. I repeatedly checked for codes along the way and none poped up.

When I got home I decide to see what it looked like on EFI live. Start logging data and notice that my Long Term Fuel trims are steadily rising. They continued to rise all the way up to 25 %. I decide to check the connections again and then re log the data. Sure enough the LTFT's are still at + 25%.

Obviously, there is some sort of problem. I decide to put my Stock intake system back on and log with EFI Live. As soon as I start the car the LTFT's bottom out just about +0 at idle.

Very disappointing. I want this intake on the car! I'm all about more air but I won't risk dumping a bunch of fuel and washing out my rings. Especially on a car that has 8K on the clock.

What should I do?

As I mentioned previously, Z06s with no MAF screens (02-04) tend to throw lean codes unless tuned with LSEdit or Preditor. The bonus is that you may gain an additional 10 RWHP, although for a few hundred bucks. Your other option is to get ahold of a screened MAF.
I'll bet that Stingers throw codes more often than Blackwings because the Stingers out-flow the Blackwings, pushing the computer beyond its capability to correct the A/F ratio.

Know any good tuners between Yuma and San Diego? I should have Flash Scan very soon if somebody could look at my logs and tell me what to tweak.

Just installed mine today. small but perceptable improvements. I am pleased. I had to fit a 1/8 inch vacuum line into the coupler that was not accounted for in the kit. It was originally in the side of the corrugated OEM coupler. I just used an sharp awl to punch a hole, stretched it bigger with a tapered punch shank, and then inseted the plastic fitting. All is fine..No codes. slightly better response.

Perhaps when I add a new exhaust, I might notice both mods more.

When do you all notice the performance differences? Normal driving, high revs, what?
I agree. I also have a 98 and didn't notice any real gains...but then, I didn't expect to. To me, the Halltech was simply the foundation for other breathing mods to be done later. If you can't get enough air in, you're not going to see much improvement with exhaust, headers, cam, heads or anything else. They all have to work together to improve breathing.

The Stinger outflows the BW by a very minimal amount. That little extra air flow causes the computer to throw the codes. I am in the software business and as most knowledgeable people know is that computers are very precise and do not leave any room for error. The BW must be right on the edge, concerning the amount of air flow that the computer allows before throwing codes. I do not remember where, but I saw a test somewhere that showed that the Stinger filter outflowed the BW by a very small amount but obviously enough to throw the codes.
