garage floor tiles - help needed!
I hope so... weird to get it in Maryland unless he was traveling.
Malaria is rare in the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there are reports of only a few cases of malaria acquired within the United States each year.
Malaria is caused by the plasmodium parasite. Humans get these parasites when bitten by infected female anopheles mosquitoes. These mosquitoes do exist in the United States, specifically in the South Central and southeastern states and in some warm, humid areas of the West.
Malaria can occur when anopheles mosquitoes feed on an infected person who comes to the United States from a country in which the disease is prevalent, such as Africa, Asia and Latin America. People living in these areas usually acquire some immunity to the disease and may be carriers without becoming sick themselves. Visitors to these areas wouldn't have immunity.
Also, the number of imported cases of malaria in the United States has risen. This occurs as more people acquire the disease outside the United States and don't become sick until after they return to this country.

I grew up in Africa (Nigeria). The malaria has always been in my system. Infact back in 1988, it almost killed me. This time around because i traveled back though i took the medications, i never finished it when i got back. For some reason when i traveled to minisota last week and came back to MD, two days later i was sick. I thought at first it was fever or the flu.... Anyway to make a long story short they drew lots of blood from me and all their test came back negatives. It was only through my medical record that they noticed i was prescrive some malaria drugs when i traveled to Africa. Ran test on it and bingo... it was a different strain. I am feeling better but just tied. Trying as hell to get better each day. Anyway time to get more rest.
Great thread! I have been trying to figure out what is the best - not necessarily the cheapest - but certainly don't have the $$ to put down ceramic tile
. My situation is more work than storage so I need durability first and foremost. So far, VCT is topping the list.
I bought the new 18 inch racedeck and it looks good...great..the bigger tiles really look nice. I paid 3.25 per foot which sounds a bit high but these are the big tiles....I can take these if I move and while cost was double the vct approach...you can't take vct with you and you have no guarantee what a winter can due to the vct. If I lived in Kansas or mild climate like that I might have opted for less expensive route. Good luck and thanks for all these comments...it helped me with my decision!
Outstanding thread, pics and info!
After searching for the right look, granite, porcelain, VCT, epoxy, mats and quarry tile, to cover 500 sq ft.; I've ordered hardwood to be laid in a herringbone pattern and finished with marine finish.
Will tread matt the area where the cars sit. No moisture from underneath is expected as I had a plastic vapor barrier laid before the concrete was poured. Will provide pics when installed and complete.

Seriously, sounds awesome! -Mr.Z-06
Cost's about $K with shipping. I laid it in one day. You can use a skill saw to do the trim. I used it to cover my 2 car garage (420 sq. ft.) and I have plenty left over. The stuff is tuff! Go to the Costco website.
Want to get this topic moving again (unless it is under a different thread)
I'm interested in putting down VCT Armstrong Black/White in my 3 car garage(660 sq ft). Because of it's shine and sharp look.
Some positive points is that my house is being constructed right now and in theory the garage floor should be pristine when complete and I live in Florida so cold weather/snow wouldn't be a factor.
The negative points are that it seems the pure Black/white tiles (no flex) cost $2.92 and $3.62 per sq/ft respectively at Lowe's. However at bigfloors.com, I can get Garagedeck for @1.99 per sq/ft with free shipping.
In short, the VCT will cost be $630+ more than the Garagedeck and that's before I factor in the cost ofadhesive and my labor/sanity. But I want the shine.
Can anyone provide me a source where I can get the VCT tiles cheaper? Or should I just get the Garagedeck and be done with it? Thanks.
