Mine is never out of my sight. I generally only drive it to car shows, cruise nights, etc.

Default No angle parking..........

A few things I've noticed over the years, if you park out in the south 40 and angle it across a couple of car spaces, some people will be so irritated they will actually walk all the way out there to leave a personal reminder. No I don't park mine this way, and never have, because I've heard the stories. I do try to find a spot from other vehicles to prevent door dings etc. This just keeps the honest people honest. Like locking your doors. But in reality, the people who want to do others harm, and damage others property, will always exist.

So, I try to lessen the chances. Movie theatre's at night??? depends, weekend???? lots of young kids around feeling their hormones?????? doesn't sound real good to me, but if you keep it away from the main entrance away from the main teen crowds, it will be ok 99%? of the time. Kids like nice cars also, and most respect them. It's not just the kids though, it's just being in the worng place at the wrong time I guess.

I also hate the thought of estimates and repairs, it's the TIME that kills you, and when someone does something to your car, people tend to take it personally. Try not to........ take it for what it is, and move on.

I've seen people who leave the plastic lampshade (used for shipping) cover on their lamps. They don't want to get dust on them. Others put sheepskin seatcovers on their expensive leather, and then 5 years down the road, take the covers off and sell the car to someone else who now enjoys that fine leather that was preserved for them. That's OK. I understand, and I love to buy your cars also I'm sure it helped the car retain its value. Sheepskin is very comfortable. I just like leather.

I too, can be pretty protective of the Corvette, and these cars can bring that trait out in a lot of people. But, I do love driving it, and if I am afraid to take it anywhere, I'll never get any miles on it. I bought my vette from a nice guy who never drove his to work, and never took the wife out to dinner etc in it. 2002 Black Convertible 3800 miles on it Perfect!!!!! Like new. I told them I was taking the wife to concerts, dinner, etc in it and the trips we were planning. His wife said she wished they would have done that. Oh well, I'll try to make up for it.

Again, I will try to keep it out of harms way as much as possible, shine it, buff it, ENJOY it. Most people are honest and appreciate a fine car. I see some driving their C5's in the snow, sand and gravel. Too much for me as I would rather beat the Jeep up, but I still like seeing them out there............anytime!

Well I'm of the opinion that I bought the car so I could drive it, granted I don't take it out in the salt and snow crap we have gotten the past week, but I do like taking it out on dates or wherever. If something happens, it happens, that's why I have insurance and only a $250 deductible. What's the use of owning it and not taking it out. Just my .02.

My C5 has never seen a movie. It has to stay home and watch a rental or HBO.

I guess that's your business. I guess you live by the rule of why wash it too. The Corvette community is made up of mainly car buffs, and people who have worked all their lives for such a car.. if you think it isn't in Harm's way, on a Saturday Night in a darkened Movie theater parking lot with a few thousand teenagers with raging hormones, just looking to make an impression on their buddies, their girlfriends or be the topic of day in school the next day.. well to the guy with the piece of S.h.it C5 There would be no problem with your car, because it would look just like any other Beater in the lot, and not worth any adolescent's focus.. in fact a few squirts from a mustard bottle might make your car look nicer.. But to those of us who value this car , and enjoy the kudo's of maintaining this car. Leaving the car in the garage and taking the beater is the right thing to do.. the Intelligent thing to do.. a keyed car, can cause countless hours of grief getting estimates, paying deductible, getting it fixed and color match etc..If a hurricane is coming and you have a 50,000 dollar boat, you pull it out of the water. At least that what smart people do.

Well I do drive my vette in the rain (it doesn't melt) and the fishtails are fun and worth the pucker factor

Drive it like you stole it is somewhat true. I'm obsessed with my car, I wash it 3 or 4 times a week, Zaino et al. But I also drive it a lot - 7000 miles in 4 months, in which time I was out of the country for a month. So I'm averaging over 2300 miles a month - no garage queen for me.

I paid cash for my baby so I'm going to enjoy the fruits of my hard earned labour. I do drive it like I stole it sometimes (unashamed) and I also cruise. But that's just it - I DRIVE it. I do not park it for very long, if I can help it. I have a beater for parking amongst the great unwashed.

A CF member has this tagline, and I really like it : "Eat, Sleep, Drive your Corvette"

My 99 FRC is my DD and my "secret" is just take up a couple parking spaces and park as far back in the parking lot as you can and just brave the long walk to wherever you are going.

Two Parking spots???. This is a definite No No... it not only reeks of, "smell me my car is special", but being out in the boonies is much safer for anyone wanting to show you just how special you are.. and how easily they can take you down a few notches.... many many jealous people, and kids looking for an excuse to abuse you. The trick is blending in Not standing out.. also being around alot of foot traffic is much better than being all alone . Cowards won't do things when other are watching..

1) When the car is damaged it is repaird instantly unless it is a rock chip (then I wait for about 5 or 6 before I take it in). I have a great shop that takes care of everything. I drop my car off and they call me when it is done. If insurance has to get involved, they deal with it, I don't.

2) I have one of the best looking MSGs in DFW. Why? Because I maintain it. It gets washed once a week and is either Zainoed or NXTed every 4 months depending on the time I have available. But I refuse to be fanatic about it. I have bigger things to worry about.

3) I park my car with the other high end cars in this area. Which means, my car blends right in. And trust me, there are kids here that driver better cars than I currently own.

So next time you feel like making a personal attack, make damn sure you have a clue who you are talking about. Because last time I checked this was a community of peers on this forum.

And third, I don't know what community of peers your talking about, but if you think we all live in a High Rent district and can park with all the Merc's and Beemer's at Neiman-Marcus, I think you're sadly mistaken.
Owning a Vette is what make us part of the community. And because we all drive one, that makes us peers.

No I don't live any where near Park Cities (thank god). And regardless of how much you and I make, I treat everyone as equals. That is what peers do in a community.

I stated two things in this thread; an opinion and some facts. I never once took a shot at someone for their facts. But I do feel opinions should be discussed. It's how we learn. So please don't assume things about me and keep this a discussion about opinions.
