You spent the money you might as well get your money's worth. I've had my vette for 9 months and I've put 16K on it. Haha, i drive it everywhere to show it off!!
A couple of weeks after getting my vette I took it out on a date and it started raining which ruined my previous plans that were going to be outdoors... so we decided on the movies. I found a parking spot away from everyone and felt good about parking there. A big storm came through while we were in the movies and when I came out there were two shopping carts up against my car and several others approaching do to the wind. I was impressed to not find any real marks on the car even though those carts banged off of it in several spots and slid down the side (gotta love fiberglass for that) but one did tear the paint on my passenger side headlight.
I take the anywhere and every where I can ,that is why I bought it.The only time it sits at home is when one or both of the kids is with the wife and I.
The average car is around 22,000 dollars. Our Corvettes are twice the average cost, which makes them a target for thieves, and kids , and just so many jealous people. Some one posted they drive their's everywhere, and it has more stone chips and and damage than he can count./. If you want to drive a 50,000 dollars car, and treat it like a piece of sh.i.t. I guess that's your business. I guess you live by the rule of why wash it too. The Corvette community is made up of mainly car buffs, and people who have worked all their lives for such a car.. if you think it isn't in Harm's way, on a Saturday Night in a darkened Movie theater parking lot with a few thousand teenagers with raging hormones, just looking to make an impression on their buddies, their girlfriends or be the topic of day in school the next day.. well to the guy with the piece of S.h.it C5 There would be no problem with your car, because it would look just like any other Beater in the lot, and not worth any adolescent's focus.. in fact a few squirts from a mustard bottle might make your car look nicer.. But to those of us who value this car , and enjoy the kudo's of maintaining this car. Leaving the car in the garage and taking the beater is the right thing to do.. the Intelligent thing to do.. a keyed car, can cause countless hours of grief getting estimates, paying deductible, getting it fixed and color match etc..If a hurricane is coming and you have a 50,000 dollar boat, you pull it out of the water. At least that what smart people do.
yes i habe before about two years ago my wife and i were walking out the movie i saw this boy who about five years of ager with his parents and when he passed by my vette he started to hit and kick my car , then his daddy grabbed him and started to whip him. When i got to my car the daddy came over to me and said I am sorry for what happened.
Now ... a serious answer ... I've been reluctant to take mine and leave it in a movie lot too. There seems to always be a 'different' crowd hanging around theaters, regardless of how nice the area is. I probably would just leave it at home and take another car. But I'm one of those that parks in the back 40, even at work.
And then when you park it way in the back away from the crowd then it sits out like a soar thumb, people get jealous and are tempted to screw with it.
Came out after a movie and some idiot decided to park his new EVO next to it....keep that thing away from the Vette Should have left a note in his window: "Are you kidding me?, signed the Vette"
do u take your vette 2 the movie theater 4 two hours 2 sit in the lot while you're inside???? i've seen the horror stories where people have came out from dinner or some other engagement and found emblems ripped off...cokes poured on the car or worse...it's friday night and all and it'll be cool 2 be out in the vette but......???
Well I guess every one is different but to say I don't care what my Vette looks like and treat it like chit because I drive it,you are wrong.I guess me being a working stiff put s me a little lower class than some but so be it.My vette is a daily driver and it gets taken care of ,and yes it does has a chip here or there.I really enjoy driving the car so thats what I do with it.
I'm not going to leave mine unattended for a long length of time either. Our mall area and movie parking lot are always crowded. When I get out in it it is mainly for driving. I waited to long to get this beautiful machine to take a chance of letting somebody screw it up for me. I've only had it for 6 weeks now but am very **** about it's condition and where I want to leave it. That's not for very long out of my sight. Maybe in the future it'll get driven where my Silverado does, but right now I doubt it. Kinda like mods, it's your car and just do what makes you happy with it.

LOL, as always you are great for a good laugh but this time you stuck your foot in your mouth. So let me clarify a few things. Because based on what you typed, you are pretty clueless about me.
1) When the car is damaged it is repaird instantly unless it is a rock chip (then I wait for about 5 or 6 before I take it in). I have a great shop that takes care of everything. I drop my car off and they call me when it is done. If insurance has to get involved, they deal with it, I don't.
2) I have one of the best looking MSGs in DFW. Why? Because I maintain it. It gets washed once a week and is either Zainoed or NXTed every 4 months depending on the time I have available. But I refuse to be fanatic about it. I have bigger things to worry about.
3) I park my car with the other high end cars in this area. Which means, my car blends right in. And trust me, there are kids here that driver better cars than I currently own.
So next time you feel like making a personal attack, make damn sure you have a clue who you are talking about. Because last time I checked this was a community of peers on this forum.
well guys..i was just trying 2 obtain a general consensus of the given situation...not start a war... i wasn't really stressin out about it but just gave it some thought and wondered what the other vette folks thought..i was just curious...take care
Well I guess this is the thread to describe what happened today......
Parked at a rather large mall here which I have been to many times with no problems. Except for today.
Went inside, leaving my newly shined baby parked well out in the lot away from all harm, doing the obligatory backward glance to make absolutely sure she was the best looking thing in the lot.(except maybe for a rather well endowed young lady that I held the door for).
Upon leaving the mall I looked out to end of the lot that I might enjoy walking the distance staring at her the whole way.
My torch red dream was gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!
I ran (hobbled, really with a sore foot) up and down the parking lot cursing and swearing vengeance upon those involved.
A police cruiser sat against the curb, with a female officer seated inside. I started banging on her window , and after what seemed like an eternity she rolled her window down and stared at me like she considered me deranged.
I started sputtering sentences that made perfect sense in my head but came out of my mouth like the ravings of a blithering idiot. She apologized that she was busy at the moment and gave me the number of the sheriffs department to call and report it! I said "Thanks a LOT!!!" and I hobbled off to find a phone (as the reason I was at the mall was my d**n phone was broken as obviously her RADIO was!, and I was trying to get it fixed, (no luck).
I hobbled up half the length of the lot and there off in the distance, parked directly out from the door I ACTUALLY HAD GONE IN, was Red sitting there, and maybe it's just the shape of a C5 nose, ...laughing at me.
Am I paranoid about my car?.... I guess I am, I guess I need to get my beater back from my son and lock my baby away.....
Funny thing, I swore that was the door I went in................

First of all, you must live in the Park Cities. because that's about the only place in this town you can blend a Vette in and the kids drive high end cars.
Secondly, I don't see where E-T's statement was a personal attack on anyone specifically other than your interpetation.
And third, I don't know what community of peers your talking about, but if you think we all live in a High Rent district and can park with all the Merc's and Beemer's at Neiman-Marcus, I think you're sadly mistaken.
It almost doesn't matter where you go if some jackazz gets a wild hair up their kazoo...but I try not to temp the fates anymore than I have to. I don't drive my Vette in the rain...in SoCal that usually means that you can drive it most of the year. But three solid weeks of rain and the threat of rain for two more meant no fun....then after five weeks of sitting in the garage the battery went C-O-M-P-L-E-T-E-L-Y dead, and its a 04????? Anyway a quick charge, good weather now and I'm off!!! So there a pros and cons to taking the car out or not. Somebody used to say it in here a lot - DRIVE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT
