** do u take your vette?? **

I see so many of these kids willing to do anything to impress the girls..
the more outrageous the better.. and the girls are no better... they like to play " can you top this"
Ive seen kids throw sodas at nice cars, squirt stolen mustard and ketsup on cars.. unfortunately its what a lot of kids today do.... the weekend movie theater is not a good place to take your C5. Only because most corvettes stand out more so than say a new Cadillac.. or a new sedan or SUV. Cars that blend in more with the surrounds are at less risk.. we always take the family sedan to the movies.. I can take the Vette to the mall or to any store, [park it in the right place].. that is up front and close to a lot of foot traffic.. and not worry about it while inside.. choosing a safe ding spot can take some time.. but I don't seem to get dings in any of my cars...

Seriously, I have a beater for parking in malls, cinema and other unsavory places.
The Beater -->

I take Inferno to work (because I'm tight with building security
) and anywhere I can drive it. I do not like taking it places I have to park it - I just get withdrawal symptoms. It's not a pleasant sight
As others said, the world is filled with losers that will damage your hard earned for no other reason than "because".

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

Parked at a rather large mall here which I have been to many times with no problems. Except for today.
Went inside, leaving my newly shined baby parked well out in the lot away from all harm, doing the obligatory backward glance to make absolutely sure she was the best looking thing in the lot.(except maybe for a rather well endowed young lady that I held the door for).
Upon leaving the mall I looked out to end of the lot that I might enjoy walking the distance staring at her the whole way.
My torch red dream was gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!
I ran (hobbled, really with a sore foot) up and down the parking lot cursing and swearing vengeance upon those involved.
A police cruiser sat against the curb, with a female officer seated inside. I started banging on her window
, and after what seemed like an eternity she rolled her window down and stared at me like she considered me deranged.I started sputtering sentences that made perfect sense in my head but came out of my mouth like the ravings of a blithering idiot. She apologized that she was busy at the moment and gave me the number of the sheriffs department to call and report it! I said "Thanks a LOT!!!" and I hobbled off to find a phone (as the reason I was at the mall was my d**n phone was broken as obviously her RADIO was!, and I was trying to get it fixed, (no luck).
I hobbled up half the length of the lot and there off in the distance, parked directly out from the door I ACTUALLY HAD GONE IN, was Red sitting there, and maybe it's just the shape of a C5 nose, ...laughing at me.
Am I paranoid about my car?.... I guess I am, I guess I need to get my beater back from my son and lock my baby away.....
Funny thing, I swore that was the door I went in................
I tried a few times to leave it in a parking lot for a while, but I found that I was uncomfortable the whole time that I was in the mall, movie, etc. It's just not worth the worry for me.After all, the enjoyment of my Corvette is either driving it or attending functions where I can either keep an eye on it or I am certain it will be safe (Carlisle, Bloomington, etc.).
Other than those select places, my garage is where my car needs to be. JMHO, TETO.
Simply put, if you can't drive it some where because you are worried about it getting messed with, why the heck did you spend $45K+ on it to begin with?
I drive mine every where possible. In less than 16 months I have 18.6K miles. I have had more paint scraps and chips than I can count. When I think it is time, I take it in, get it fixed and keep going. Between insurance and a proper coat of either Zaino or NXT, I don't worry.
It is a car. No more, no less. And if you think it is more than that, have an accident in it and then see how many people (including yourself) say "It can be replaced, a human life can't be".

I could not disagree with you more! My Yukon is my car, my Corvette is something altogether different. It is my hobby, my present to myself, my modaholic project, my pride and joy, etc.I noticed that you have over 700 posts. That's an awful lot of time spent on something that is described by you as:
"It is a car. No more, no less".

A forum is a place to discuss ideas, share stories, have opinions and become informed about the world around you. Which is how I use this place and several other internet resources.
My Corvette on the other hand is a mode of transportation. A very comfy and quick mode of transportation

So my number of posts here have nothing to do with the Corvette just being a car. It has to do more with the exchange of ideas between people with a common interest. In this case owning and driving a Corvette. If I hadn't have come here, I would have paid more for the car than it was worth. I would have never known about the upgrades I could install on my own. And I would have never had a chance to meet some really great people from around the US.
And I spend more time driving my Corvette than I do posting here by a factor of about 4 to 1.
