I have to say that I find the C5 Coupe body much better looking than the C5 Z06. The long sweeping window makes the whole difference. The car looks much smoother and aerodynamic (though it may not be so). The Z06's non-body colored rear brake vents look very tacky (functionality aside).
However the Z06's performance obliterates the Coupe, which is why I chose the Z06 (and buying one this spring).
Am I the only who'se ideal Vette is a Coupe body with an LS6 engine, tranny & suspension?

I like the ZO6 look much better. I think the ZO6 rear window design gives a bad azz look. I think the brake ducts look out of place on a coupe.

You're not the only one, the coupe has the classic lines of the Vette. The ZO6 is nice (I'd love to have one) but I don't care for most of the colors (very generic, nothing exotic for such an awesome car, imho) that it was offered in.
Of course, the C5R is a Coupe (because of aerodynamics). It would be great to have the Z06 options on the Coupe. Although, I must admit that I like both styles!

If the C5 only came in a coupe I would've never bought one. I like the look of the hardtops WAY better than the coupe. Prefer the tighter fit inside too.
This topic has been beat to death for years on this Forum. Thank goodness there's a choice but the bottom line is that they're both Corvette's so who cares
my friend has a frc, and whenever i sit in his car i feel like im clustered up. i like my coupe because of the amount of open space inside.
but for looks i think they both look great
I prefer the looks of the coupe so I bought one. However, the look of the FRC or Z06 appeals to others, and the performance of the Z06 can't be disputed.
I don't like the fake brake duct look on coupes though.

That would be a great car!! The only reason I don't have a Z is the fixed roof and the lines. There is about 2 inches less head room in the Z06. I am 6'3" and 2" is a lot.

NO! You are NOT alone. If you could get a coupe body with an LS6 engine, I'd be driving one right now....and I agree about the vents too. Taken a look at Evil-Twin's vents? Awesome.
Why is it that GM chose the C5R to be a coupe but the Z06 in the stubby FRC body? Who's smarter in the design groups? It's always bugged me that the sweet coupe line could only be had in Caddy like ride. I'll never own a Z06 just because of the looks and that a shame to miss out on that kind of performance, but I've started the transformation with upgraded suspension parts and boost. I've read that there is little in common between the C6 and C6-Z06. Even the frame is aluminum. But they wised up and used the coupe as the starting point.
Actually I think most people prefer the coupe -- I sure do! And with the right mods the coupe can perform as well, or better, than a Z06. The FRC reminds me of the hardtop midyears. I always liked the fastback midyears better also. They also remind me of the difference in the look between the early Mustang coupes and fastbacks.

I like them both, but for me, the ability to carry a lot of items in the back was a deciding factor (besides the price difference). Someday though, I will own a Z06.
