I have to say that I find the C5 Coupe body much better looking than the C5 Z06.
Am I the only who'se ideal Vette is a Coupe body with an LS6 engine, tranny & suspension?
No, you are not alone. I would have bought a Z06 Coupe if I could have. Right now, I have more RWHP than a Z06, but have not upgraded suspension, brakes, etc.
I like to FRC style and the coupe. It gives our market a larger spectrum of cars for the consumer. The mindset of GM when they made the FRC, it was for them to make a "cheaper" more affordable vette. When they didnt sell as many as they thought they had to come up with a unique way of getting rid of them...with that was the birth of the Z06. I have a engineering that has worked with GM and this is what I heard from them.
As for the performace side, you can Mod you coupe to WELL perform over the LS6 anyday. I have around double the rear wheel horse power of a Z06 and I have the full Z06 sus. So, pick the body style that makes you happy and work from there. It is a proven fact that the coupe does have better aero/dy. though.

If the C5 only came in a coupe I would've never bought one. I like the look of the hardtops WAY better than the coupe. Prefer the tighter fit inside too.
This topic has been beat to death for years on this Forum. Thank goodness there's a choice but the bottom line is that they're both Corvette's so who cares
That would be a great car!! The only reason I don't have a Z is the fixed roof and the lines. There is about 2 inches less head room in the Z06. I am 6'3" and 2" is a lot.
That's not true... the roof line is the same. I'm 6'4" and fit just fine in my Z06, my parents Vert, and my buddies Coupe... they're the same. However, in 2003 the headliner hot an extra padding bar which did lower headroom some, many tall owners change it out for a pre-2003 liner.
The Z06 was designed to be as light and stiff as possible... thus they ditched the super heavy back glass of the coupe and fixed the roof. The notch back is for weight...
As for looks the hardtop makes the car look wider and sleeker to me... the coupe's back glass accentuates the big *** on a C5.
Never met a Vette I didn't like! I think I'm going to miss the FRC look on the C6. I would like to see all Vettes come in coupe, vert, and FRC models. Maybe even a FRC look with a targa top. The more choices the better!
I have to say that I find the C5 Coupe body much better looking than the C5 Z06. The long sweeping window makes the whole difference. The car looks much smoother and aerodynamic (though it may not be so). The Z06's non-body colored rear brake vents look very tacky (functionality aside).
However the Z06's performance obliterates the Coupe, which is why I chose the Z06 (and buying one this spring).

I have an FRC, I like the small rear window and the extra stiffness/less weight.

I love my coupe the way the hatch runs so smoothly along the car, but I also love my friends vert and Z06 both of them are beautiful cars, the Z06 is a great track car and the vert is just pure luxury all in all I want them all
