Default I'm confused

First you said bellhousing and then you said, "SHE downshifted". Is this a 6-speed or an A4 we're talking about?

Holy Smokes If you go with the LS6, you definitely need to get a better set of gears Do I hear 3:42's with a 3200 stall

See picture. Not sure what else to call that part. She is a A4.

Flexplate and/or starter probably just broke. One probably broke the other.

I highly doubt the crank broke unless you've actually taken it apart and seen that.

This oppertunity can not be wasted.
What ever you do dont give the wife ANY reason to believe that it is anything but total destruction.

Now repeat after me..
"Honey, there is no way this motor can be fixed." But dont worry, I've got it all taken care of.
" I found a line on a "New" LS2 motor that will just drop right in." It will actually "SAVE" money in the long run. But first I also need to do a little work to the rear end and transmission so that doesnt break as well..

Thanks Ramon, after getting her on the jack stands today. Looks like the flywheel exploded. Busted the head off the starter. And now there is a piece of Flywheel wedge between the flywheel and the bellhousing. That is what is keeping the engine from turning.
So I hope that's all that is wrong. But it still means that the engine was stalled by this piece of flywheel at WOT.

Yeow Why would the flywheel explode
You'd better check the block good where the chunk got wedged in there.

Man....GOOD LUCK

What are the possible causes for flywheel failure?

IMO it was the starter that started all this. Ive seen it befor on a friends a4! It in turn caused the flywheel to explode. Any of you a4 guys make sure you have the new starter design with the solid mount!!! The old design is hollow on the long bolt side the new design is solid aluminum on the long bolt side.
