Noticed yesterday my 01 starting surging if that's what you call it while I was driving down the road about 50 miles per hour? It's never done that before. Do I need to change the fuel filter? Or should I spend the $ 1000.00 to get the tune up now? I've tried to get a tune up before and the local corvette shop said I didn't need one until it had 100,000 miles on it. Car now has 95, 000 miles. I've had it for alittle over a year. Do you guys think that the problem or ?
Your car is probly well past the tune up point.90+k on the spark plug wires is bad. Also I bet the Mass air meter has never been cleaned. The fuel filter should be changed every 30k or so.
So,yes.Get the tuneup which should be plugs, wires, fuel filter, clean mass air meter, check all rubber vacuum lines. Shouldn't be over $500.
Thank you for the advise but the burning smell that came from it today I think is more than a tune up can help. I'll have it checked out.. Thanks Again

You didn't mention anything about burning? That could be a smoked clutch or something.
I'm wondering what shop would say don't touch the Vette till 100k miles?Thats scary.
When I brought my car into the only chevy dealer they wouldn't even touch it. said they don't work on corvettes, I have to have it towed about 60 miles away. Also it's an automatic, would it still be the clutch?
Are there any sponsors from this site near you?More than like ly dealer will kill you on $$ and might not even fix the problem. Too bad you weren't on this coast.Could probly find the problem in under 5 minutes. We do alot of Vette maintanence for people here due to the dealers don't have a clue.
