Default Security light question??

While driving in my 1997 vette, the security light will come on apparently for no reason. Does anyone know what this might mean? Nothing appears to happen, except the light comes on and stays on.

Thanks,

My guess is a dirty key or dirty contact point inside the ignition cylinder. I would try using your spare key and see if that fixes the problem. I had an older GM vehicle with VATS, and the resistor part of
the key just wore down and stopped working.

If the new key doesn't work, then I have read about a procedure to clean the inside of the lock with alcohol. Can't find the post, but remember seeing it a few years ago. Are there any codes being set?? You could also have a faulty VATS module.

My traction control light would come on by it self for no reason on my 98 coupe. Turned out to be bad chassis grounds!
