Keep me up to date on this thread too. I like the overall look but I don't like the angular bumper look on the top leading edge. Also it you do slant the nose if you get rid of some of the bottom front edge it will improve the departure angle so less scrapes. I like fiberglass because you can modify it. The nose has to be fuctional to improve cooling with larger individual brake ducts and air intake for the radiator over OEM then I'm in.
VillianC5, I like where you started the downward slope on the bumper--that looks like its the right point for the bumper to slope down.
FIberglassfan, I hear your concern about lift but I think that there's a few things which may make this less of a concern--1) the C5 still has a rake which counters lift, 2) The airinlets and middle portion are going to be designed to counter lift and 3) I am probably going to put a splitter (not yet pictured) at the bottom to counter lift. There are many other cars that have gone with this design--most recently the Ford GT (Neablas is going to love that comment =) ). The Ford GT has a splitter on bottom to counter any negative lift effects... Also, the Ferrari 360 and newer 430 have a recessed front end (something to check out).
Fatbillybob, I most definitely aim to have the cutaway in the center of the nose cool the radiator better and for air to be better directed at the brakes but these things will depend upon how things look underneath the front bumper and what's accessible... I'm going to do my best to make this bumper worth everything we pay for it...

This is almost enough to move forward with fiberglass... (Gotta double the number of people to go polyurethane) If anyone on this list would not like to be on it, please let me know!
Now that is a front I would definately buy! I would open the bottom up to let air flow directly in addition to the stock under nose spoiler. We need airlfow! In fact if you want to add some C6 lineage add in the C6 nose hole to where the vette emblem is. This could be the new ram air intake.
I like the fact that the bumper line is gone from the top leading front edge of the first picture. You see the primary problem with home made fiberglass do it yourself fender flares and the like is that they blend poorly into the native body. Typically they are too angular and the C5 is very flowing in lines. So the new C5 nose has to flow which the last icture illustrates. Some will complain that it is too 360 Ferrari in look but who cares when the ultimate result is better function and good looks that blend with the C5 design. IMO the open mouth look of the c6 is going in the wrong direction. I do not like the add on mustang 2 look of fender flares scoops etc... The desing of the c6 looks like a generic front with no style cut open with a box cutter and there you have it. There is alot of style in your last picture.
Cool, I like your response. Yes, our Vettes do have smooth flowing lines and yeah, I don't want a piece that blends poorly with the rest of the body. I want the piece to look like its factory. You guys have sold me on rounding the front edge but no more than what VillianC5 has above. I'd like people to look at pictures of the C3 and see how the nose angles back in. That's kinda how this new front end is going to be minus the hard front edge.
Two other notes:
1) I don't want to split the front air inlets with a diagnol bar. I want those air inlets to be long to accentuate the width of the Vette
2) We need to add a subtle splitter at the bottom--but it shouldn't stick out much at all. The splitter function will be handled in 3 parts: a) the middle part at the bottom of the trapezoid b&c) along the edges leading up to the corners
this looks awesome from the front... the side view however kind chops the cars front end at an angle.... from the pics so far the bumper would need to flow foward a bit more for the side angle to look right... dont flame me if i missed a previous similar post or something, I don't have time to read all of the stuff that gets put on this board.
again back to the point, if you fix this up and show me how it looks from the side , i will DEFINATLY be interested in putting that on my car

Just to clarify I am really interested in a poly piece if the numbers get to that point. Poly is so much more forgiving. One opps with glass and its repair time.
Xcessive, you're right, the side view maybe choppin' at too sharp an angle but I don't think its too far off...
Threed, though I still do need a completed drawing of the front end from a front view, I don't know if enough people will get online to do poly. I don't know where else to show off the bumper. There's about 8-10 people ready right now but we need like 25 to do poly...

I could use help spreadin' the word!
Well you have ME on board and my best friend as well, so thats 2... if you can make it wrap around a bit nicer that is... im sure this is what the designers of the C6 encoundered as well.
