Slowtraffickeepright - Its either on this thread or on its sister thread in the C5 General section where I put a side view with a shorter, more tapered back end--not C6 style lopped off but something more neat and tidy than the C5 version. I like the basic look of the C5 rear from behind--just a little smaller, a little more tapered and a little less bubble... I LOVE the big round rear tail lights--perhaps flush mounted like some people are doing would be the call. If things go well with this front fascia, I'll get more into the rear and sides...
Jamie, unless this bumper blows up and tons are sold, all I'm gettin' out of this (if it happens) is a free fascia as I'd supply the prototype car... I'd still probably have to paint myself... With regards to poly, the manufacturer mentioned that people have your concerns about the paint before I even talked to him about it and he said that if you take the bumper and do a proper job sanding and use flex primer when you do the painting, that these problems would not occur... (But please tell me if your experience is different)
CraZee Z06--still working on pics...
I'd consider it, but I'd like a cutout in it similar to the one on the C6 Z06 so I could configure a ram air system.
I've been thinking about this--I'm still experimenting with shapes that can be cut out--trying to see if it will look right, if it will provide good function, etc.
I was just recently made aware of this fascia and you have done a great job on the design, making me very interested. I am what you would call a "Cayon Carver" and I worry that the stones thrown up by those big Vette rear tires at speeds of 150+ would put holes in FG, since there are no bras to fit your design. I live with a few paint chips here and there, but highly possible "Holes" are something else. The extra $ for the Poly & paint is > considering the damage possibilities. If you do this and it is poly, I want in. Just a thought.

Elvy,
Thanks for your post. I only ask this: Help me get another 13-15 people on board and we'll do it. I have about 10 people who are down now but some of them want it in poly as well. I'm just trying to get enough people together to make the project happen! I finally found an artist who will help me draw this so I hope to put something together this week as far as better drawings but the drawings that Neablas put together should give a pretty good idea as to the overall style...

Not to hijack your thread but since you can find someone who's willing to do low volume work, how about a lip spoiler like that of the C6R on the C5 ? I think I'll look really good & will be simple enough to make.

The softer nose in your other post is bitchin and flows more w/the Vette lines. I also like that my Vararam will be able to breath unrestricted, not like other fascias I have seen. I will see if I can bring others in.

That probably would look good--I'm just really busy with work and school apps... so it may be some time before I look into it...
Here's the first pictures I had a friend's friend, Francis, (a local artist) friend draw for me:
The third picture was done very quickly and will benefit from another drawing. I just had a little while to meet and we'll get another picture of the front view soon. I wanted to post these to show progress.
You kinda lost me with the upper opening in the center and the reduction in size of the radiator air intake. I assume the idea for that little upper scoop opening is for engine air intake, but I think it looks much too busy and and borders on 'ricer'.
I think I'm going to do my own one-off this summer or next winter in Kevlar/epoxy..... I will close off and smooth in the majority of the nostrils, leaving only the turn signals at the corners. 6 inch round openings for Cibie driving lamps will go in on each side of the license plate. The entire front will be smoothly extended slightly lower to a full width bottom plate like some of the race fascias do, and include a carefully shaped and enlarged opening for the Rad air. Everthing will be smoothed and fared to match the organic shape of the rest of the car. To feed air to my Haltech filter/airbridge, I will open up the upper surface of the rad. feed tunnel as has been discussed on the forum time and time again.
If it were possible, I would like to emulate the design of the wide Calloway re-body with the large headlights under glass and the flowing oval air intake, but that is way beyond the scope of what I can do.
Good luck on this project. Even though it is heading off in a direction that I am not interested in, I will be watching to see how it finishes up.
Now to find a cheap doner fascia to work on for mold creation.
These are initial drawings--the radiator air intake will be longer and the center top air inlet is experimental per some suggestions. Pic 2 is the closest and I'm still going to try to make the side air inlets wider... One good reason to feed the air intake with an opening up top would be that there's probably many fewer hydrolock issues...
hmmmm OK, I commend you on trying to get another front fascia done, but IMO the drawing need to be done by someone with more talent/experience. Those drawing do not do your idea justice. yikes..

:agree: You must've read my mind! i was thinking the same things (that's got to be scary for you )!
Sometimes less is more. The design was looking good.........until you put the 06 Z06 vent in the front. Now it looks WAY too busy for my tastes, but some peeps might like it. I'm just not one of them.
Ok, I hear you guys. I tried to work in the c6 Z06 idea at someone's suggestion. I'm going to try a few more versions and if it doesn't work, we'll take it out. I did want to give folks a way of getting cold air to th intake without worrying about sucking up water... Thoughts?

It is a good idea but I think the practality of the idea is more than meets the eye. It would require major revamping of the inner liner behind the front fasica and also repalcement of the lower ducting if using the Vararam to what I don't know. Keep up the good work. It never hurts to throw out an idea.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
