I gather the search function is down, so here's my question.
Turning the steering wheel produces a continuous "rubbing" noise inside the car. It sounds like some lubrication is needed in the steering wheel area itself. Any thoughts?
Check the simple stuff first. Fluid level correct, is the pully slipping when you turn the steering wheel?
I have a mechanics stephesoscope that I use to isolate noises. The same results can be obtained by using a 3/8" length of rubber vacuum line. Hold one end to your ear and point the other the noise area. You can localize the noise down to the exact area/componet.
There is an opening at the lower bearing where you can inject/spray some white lithium grease. This should eliminate that rubbing-groaning-squeaking type noise that occurs when the steering wheel is turned in either direction.
