B&B 1997-1999 C5 * note the 2" extension between the collector and flange
B&B 2000 C5 * collector is welded to the flange
I'm still looking for the 2001+ * the distinction is the primaries start at 1 5/8" and enlarge to 1 3/4"
You can't tell me that the stock iron headers are equal to these. What are you smoking? A high school auto shop class student could see the differences. Shorties give 15hp and LT give 30hp. Who brought LTs into this discussion anyway?

Sure they "look" different than stock manifolds. But do they perform much, if any differently than stock manifolds?

People say that they don't help. BUT.. I picked up a set of B&B shorty headers second hand for $200. They installed easily - took me a day and I could feel the difference SOP. I already had a magnaflow SS system and X-pipe and the flow was definitely increased. I am pleased and there are no problems passing emissions with them.

Waste of time and money, you'd probably be better off using someones '02 later Z06 manifolds. you can probably buy these for next to nothing since we all use long tubes. You would also need the center section to match. ST's are a complete waste IMO
I thought of using newer ZO6 manifolds (seen them on ebay) but I don't think the smog connections match up to my 97. If anyone has done this please chime in.
I have to disagree that shorties are a waste of time & money because I have to believe that they will flow much better than the stock 97 manifolds will.
Any known problems with spark plug changes??
You're are right about the Shortys flowing better than stock 97 manifolds. I have a set of Z06 manifolds sitting here at my house and I have shortys also. When you do a side by side comparo, you can see that the Shortys will even outflow the Z06 manifolds. No they do not work as good as long tubes, but they are better than the 97 through 99 manifolds . if you use Z06 manifolds, you will have to change your airtubes and center H-pipe also. The 2001 or newer C-5 Z06 manifolds are tilted in a different angle and slightly different in length, that is why you need a different center h- section. Most guys here think they have long tubes when actually they only have mid tubes. LG and DynaMax are the only two true "long tubes" I know of.

Yep, KOOKS and some of the others are actually mid length even though they are often referred to as long tube headers. They, of course will still outperform short tube headers.
The most common true long tube headers discussed here are the LGs and DynaMaxx.
Typically what I found is that the consensus is that true long tube headers offer more in the way of low end torque at the expense of peak numbers, whereas the mid length headers offer more in the way of high end torque.
Short tube headers, are not widely regarded as offering much in the way of performance in either the high, or low, RPM ranges.

Someone please take a Z06 run it on a dyno, then change the Z06 manifolds and put the best known "shorty" headers on and run the car again on the same dyno . Please, please tell me how much better they are. I'm a doubting Thomas, and think the gains will be negligable. However I have been wrong before. You might pick up 10-15 rwhp on a early car, but you wont on a Z06.
Hey IM QUIKR,
Nice piture of the 00's. Wonder where you got it?
Still for sale by the way. - C.
I looked all over the web for a good piture of the headers and could'nt find a thing. In fact even the CF vendors pics SUCK. Sorry for the rip off but it was for your benefit.
