Who has done it and what was involved?

If you were to do it all over again would you? Is it worth it?

Does anybody make any kits for our cars, if so who?

Thank You,

Paul

Yank makes a kit. I know Paul Major has used it. Contact Vette DR's who did the work.

Your welcome, glad to help any time. Call Carmen and talk with him a little. I know they had some issues.

I called yank. They told me the swap can be done in a couple hours but I should put in a cage because the car can twist the torque tube causing it to twist the gearbox and can break the rear. They make everything needed and include any stall you want with a 9 inch converter. I am going to go with the lower first gear in the tranny so drivability won’t be as bad. He said that it would be like driving in 4th gear on the highway so on my way home I tested it out. 4th gear is 70 mph at 3000 rpm. If that is true to his word this is still very street able.

He said long tubes have no issue clearing but the bell housing is a little wider than stock. They told me any machine metal shop should take about an hour to cut back the 1/2 inch on either side and replace to make it fit. They did their own with no issues at all.

Priced and shipped around $5600 this offers everything needed minus a shifter and installation. I sit back and see a huge number but for as many clutches this car will go through if I race it and as much as I plan to race I see no other option. Between down time and buying new parts for a clutch every race season this seems more logical.

My stock tranny and tube have only 36 k miles. Anybody need them??

Paul.

Again thank you cartek.

When you do it, let us know how much the installation and custom fabrication charges end up being?

I will give cartek a shout and see if they want to tackle this. Yank said install should be about $800 - $1000 installed. I would do it myself with the help of a friend but the cutting away part steers me away from this process. Then I want a cage installed that looks like it came from the factory. I have seen a couple before. One looked amazing while the other was a hack job.

I have some other issues with the car as we speak. Nothing major just the normal crap. I plan on having it done by June. I still have other bills to pay and I am only 22. Priorities are priorities.

I will keep all updated as I did with my conversation with Yank.

Dave_Busch shoot me a pm and let me know a estimated price.

Thanks,

Paul.
