Default bang for the buck

I just bought a 2000 corvette with only 8xxx miles on it . I'm very glad it has low miles on it but what should I look for when It comes to a car that has that low of miles . I want to up the horse power with a new air intake and a exhaust , any thoughts

Just start throwing money at it. Money and Mod's go together. I suggest you start with a goal in mind, otherwise some of the mod's will not compliment the others.

I think you should've asked what problems to look for before buying the car, but at least you're asking. Check the C5 General Sticky and work your way down the list. As far as intake and exhaust choices, please utilize search.....many horses have already been thoroughly beat, and then some...

I bought a 2000 last year with only 6500 miles on it. I have installed a Vararam intake, Bassani X-pipe and Corsa Indy exhaust. Rear wheel hp dynoed at 327hp. Shop around you can really save some $$$.

First, get rid of that super-restrictive airbox. Bang for buck, I'd go with a Halltech Stinger-R with cold air mod. Total cost would be about $280. Check out my installation instructions and cold air mod instructions at: http://www.conceptualpolymer.com/corvette_c5_corner.htm

Other intake options include the Blackwing (comes with filter only), Volant twin cone, Vortex Rammer, Granatelli, Calloway, and Vararam to name the most popular. All will increase HP and torque. The cat-back will add very little to a C5 with minor mods. More gains can be seen after artificially aspirating the engine. For now, the aftermarket exhaust system give you superior sound, but little else.
