I own a 1998 C5 with 10K miles on it. I am the original owner and know the full history of the vehicle.
I started the vehicle about a month ago and let it idle in the garage for about 45 minutes.
I then excelerated he engine a couple times and shut off the ignition before the RPM came back to idle. I then immediaty proceeded to start the car again, with no luck. The car wouldn't start again, it turns over but wouldn't fire. In the display on the console I get things like "brake before shifting", "Reduce engine speed" etc.
Since I don't have the equipment for reading codes, I have no idea where to turn.
I called the local dealier who for indicated I would need to tow it in to have it looked at and offered no assistance.
He did indicate that the codes probably have locked out the engine as it may have detected a problem that could seriously damage the engine. This was a percaution to keep from damaging the engine.
Can anyone offer me any help?
Thanks

I know with charge issues, these cars throw a lot of weird code and loss of comm codes. A lot of folks have had trouble with body grounds that have caused intermittent problems that re-occur with no seeming pattern.
Had the car been modified/tuned?
I've had some of these codes in the past and it was a result of tuning and/or pcm integrity issues.
Not my area of expertise. I'm sure some other folks will chime in with more accurate places to start with.
Hope the code defs helped some anyway.
Let us know what you find.

To command a engine shut down the system requires a P0606 set with a P1518. You did not get that you have a P0601
This code deals with the Throttle Actuator control.
Check all your fuses. I suspect a battery problem. Especially with all the other codes which appear to be unrelated.
TCS is traction control.
LDCM is left door control module
RDCM is Right-----
BCM is body control module
The only thing common is all ckts show low battery volts or battery fault.
Sooo yes check all grounds, fuses, and wires, but a safe bet is the battery, I would have it checked if it has not been replaced.

If you do, GET IT OUT OF THERE! I tried to cheap out and keep my old OEM battery as long as I could. It gave me problems that I would have NEVER EVER even guessed that a battery would cause! I installed a new battery to eliminate the possibility of acid leakage! I had none. You need to make sure that your battery didnt leak. The key FOB's would loose sync and would only work for two or three times. The Memory functions would loose sync and reset to some weird seat settings ect ect! Changing out the battery fixed some of my issues. The rest of my nightmares were caused by corroded chassis grounds. Here is my link on how to clean grounds. I highly recommend doing this maintenance!

You had the car idling for 45 min. If you had the AC or deforst on the BCM could have gotten damp from condensation. BCM's and moisture DO NOT get a long!! see if the passengers carpet is wet or damp. Check the jute underlayment under the carpet.
If you have questions, please let me know.
