Default Lingenfelter Performance Engineering has it

Well, I dropped my '02 Roadster down at Lingenfelter last Friday and I just got an e-mail of the stock HP (almost stock, I did add Corsa Indy's) from them.

At the rear wheels:
Baseline was 312.7 hp 337.1 lbs ft of torque

I will keep this thread updated for those considering the process.

You should realize some pretty decent gains with those additions.

This is their "500 HP" package, isn't it? I just talked with Jeff @ LPE about it today; they claim about 420-430 RWHP. It uses their GT1-1 cam (229/242 @ .050", .631" lift, 114 C/L); should sound pretty hairy in a 346. I'll definitely be interested in hearing more when you get it on the road!

It is about a two week project guys. It is the LPE 500HP Package, but that is predicated on a Z06 LS6 Intake, Heads & Exhaust. Now I am upgrading the intake and the exhaust, but I am sticking with the LS1 heads. These guys are pros, they have the process so well laid out. When the car was dropped off, Tim@LPE showed me the LS1 & LS6 finished heads on the bench side by side. The only difference is that the exaust port on the LS1 is and oval shape, while the LS6 is a slightly more open D shape. I was advised that the upgrade to the LS6 heads, as they sat on the bench, was worth 10-15 HP as the intake ports and valves were identical. The upgrade to the LS6 heads was not a good $/HP value. They had a dyno of a Z06 I believe with pretty identical work that was doing about 440 RWHP so I think AmericanPie's numbers are about right.

Regarding the GT1-1 Cam, yeah, people will know it is there, and that is perfect for this car which comes out for 30-45 minute missions to cruize the Lake Michigan shoreline in the summer. I will definitely post video of the results.

One thing LPE seems to be focused on is to under promise and over deliver. I like that.

Here is the "before" launch video with Corsa Indy Exhaust as the only mod: http://www.advantagelabel.com/video/corsa.wmv

Thanks for the encouragement guys,
BK

Don't want to hijack the thread, but I am getting the same package. Car goes in on Mar. 5. Can't wait to get the dyno sheets. Some of the bolt on stuff I already have. Worked with Tim Dyer @ LPE to set-up the details. Great guy. Spent alot of time answering my questions and leading me down the right path. What I found to be very repectable was that they didn't try to sell me on parts that offered little benefit to the overall package even though they stock them. Looking forward to the new experiance.

Ivan that is great. So you are doing the H&C package to a LS1 6 speed?

Feel free to take this thread over and my job wraps up and yours begins.

I have a 2003 A4 coupe. I have also opted for the 500 hp package. At first it would have been less but Tim indicated that they have a new cam to try out on A4's that would get me to the 6speed level 500 hp package. The idle will not be as smooth as the regular package. I told him as long as my wife could drive it and not complain, I'm happy.

When do you expect to have it back?

I should have it back by around March 4th.

Your A4 will be a rocket ship and it will be cool to see and compare the dyno sheets. That tranny upgrade looked a bit salty but what a great set up.

Now here's the question I always ask myself when contemplating such an upgrade.

The cost of this is a bit over six grand. With it, you'll realize about the same horsepower gain that you would from a Magnacharger (albeit for a bit less money).

What's the reasoning for going with internal mods vs. forced induction? I don't have a position one way or the other, I'm just trying to see why people (who hopefully know more than I do) go this route. Thanks

I had a very similar package installed on my 01 vert by 21MC last summer. I was extremely pleased with the outcome and the customer service was great throughout the whole process. I'm sure you'll get the same from LPE.

Here's the mods I had done:

- 21 MC H/C Package with the LS1 heads - basically the same setup as yours
- K&N Filter with Z06 box
- Kooks High Flow Intermediate section - catalysts & X pipe
- Luk Pro Gold HD Clutch and Aluminum Flywheel
- Z06 TI exhaust - - the car had Corsa Indys but I wanted something quieter.
- Other supporting mods - you can see a bit more in my sig

The car dyno'd at 301 rwhp/315 rwtq prior to mods. It is a MN6 with the Z51 package. It was stock except for the Corsa Indys.

The car dyno'd at 421 rwhp/370 rwtq after the mods. Needless to say, I was pleased with the results. SOTP increase is tremendous.

You're going to love yours. Congrats!
