i have lately noticed a rearend leak on my car..this was after thr rearend and trans was removed from the car to install a new trans....i am wondering if anyone has any insight as of where the leak is coming from....i have jacked the car up and it seems to puddle on top of the centersection....
There is a known issue with the left side cover leaking. You might look there first. Also, be sure it is off of your spring. The composite spring doesn't like chemicals and it might cause problems down the road. If it is on the spring, I would wipe it off with rags as best as possible. Not sure what chemicals can be used to get it all out though.
It is also possible that it could be coming from one of the output shaft seals (where wheel drive shaft enters differential). Go for a ride then immemdiately jack your car up and get under there and look, or put your car up on four jackstands or two ramps in the front and jack stands in the back, start it, put it in first gear, and let it spin while you look.
It's often called leaky butt. For some reason, probably dumbazz wrench monkey syndrome, but some dealerships don't use the right sealant to fix this. I think you'd do very well to print out the applicable TSB for your mechanic, with the proper sealant highlighted.

Might make sure the new trans and/or rearend weren't overfilled.
This will drive your mechanic nuts trying to find it. There is a bolt on the cover that is hidden unless you have the rear end down. You have to use RTV on that bolt or it will leak.
PM RoadRebel or another one of the gurus around here, they will be able to describe it technically.
well i looked under the car and checked the rear centersection today...it doesnt appear to be coming from the seals on the sides of it....it appears to be puddling up on top of the carrier then dripping down...
This is a pretty common problem on the C5. I had the dealer repair my Y2K right before the warranty expired and they have "drive line seal leak" on the invoice. Mine would leave a very small puddle when backing out of the driveway and then it would disappear. That was two years ago, and now, it's doing it again.
