Anybody out there that has to mash their gas door buttion several times before the thing will open? Is there something wrong, or maybe a quick fix? Please advise!

I've had this happen when a gas attendant closes the cap holder wire in the door. There is a release on the left hand side rear wall.

There is a connection under the center console where the gas door button is.

Unscrew the nuts holding the center console on, lift it up, and check that the connection is good.

If it's not plugged in all the way, the door won't open... I speak from experience :o

It's been a long time, but it seems that the solenoid in mine wasn't pulling the latch rod back far enough to always release the door, and seemed to only be in the winter months. I could always release it with the wire release. I ended up taking the latch solenoid mechanism out and making a small adjustment so the latch rod was pulled back just a fraction farther. It's behind the carpet back of the driver side seat. Has been good for 6 or 7 years now.

Default I had the the opposite problem

I never had an opening problem but twice the fuel door wouldn't stay closed. Once it closed but sprung open as I began to drive off. And once at the pump. Both times I had to "jiggle" the latch mechanism's to get them to stay closed. Both times was during cold days.
