Default Paging Bill Curlee.... More Computer Problems......

Ok I've cleaned all the grounds under the hood but I seem to still have a problem. Every once in a while (which seems to occur more often) I get the whole Service Engine, Traction Control, Low Fuel, High Oil Pressure and so on code. What seems to be constant is that when this happens you can not use anything on the passenger side door. Windows won't roll up, door won't lock and so on. I have also noticed that when the problems occur the Memory 2 position defaults when entering the car. Any help would be appreiated. Thanks.

Is your BCM getting damp or exposed to moisture? That can and will cause the car to freak out. Check the BCM, carpet, jute under the carpet ect. Any dampness at all is BAD!!!!
If it is dry, check the connectors that connect the passengers door to the car. They will be in the door accordian tube or in that area. There is an orange power wire that can come loose and cause problems. Check those plugs and connectors well.

Do those checks and let me know how you make out.

When you say you cleaned the grounds......did you actually remove the ground from the chassis and clean the frame and the ground wire itself?

If you didnt disasemble your ground connections down this far:

You didnt really clean your grounds!

The large lug part also needs to be cleaned and the area on the frame needs to be wire brused clean!

How about using some dielectric grease when it is reassembled?

When I bought my vert it did the same exact thing. It's the two wire harness' going in the door. I slit the accordian in the center, removed it and then had my wife hold the power window switch up and down while I moved those two wire bundles around. I isolated which bundle it was and zip tied the connector together so it stayed tight. No more problems in over 12k miles. Hope thats clear.

You can add the dielectric grease. It will help keep the moisture out. While you have the connector apart the important part is to make sure that all of the female plns in the plug are in good shape, clean and will grip the male pins tightly. If you look at the picture you will see that the pin in the right hand corner is not going to grip the male pin as tight as the others.

Male pins love to be gripped tightly!

Bill, is the right way to apply dielectric grease to apply it after you have cleaned and reconnected the grounds? Since it is non conductive I would not think you would want to apply it before the connections are made....

Clean the connections, apply the grease and goop the grease on the plug. The connectors in the plug will scrape off the grease and make electrical contact. Anything that is not in contact will be protected form corossion.

Thanks for all the great replies you guys. When I cleaned all the grounds under the hood I completely dissasembled the connector and cleaned throughly with contact clean then reassemble with dialectric grease. I'll have to check under the passenger side floor board like you say but I am not expecting it to be this. The car is a '99 and has 34k on it and is very clean. In fact there was hardly any corrioson on the grounds under the hood at all. The positive battery terminal is a different story though. hehe I'm hoping it is the door connector like someone stated before. Yesterday I didn't have time to work on it but I did go out there and just try to role up the passeneger side window with no luck. So I open and closed it (passenger side) a few time to kind of check for a connection problem. Well sure enough the window roled right up. So I am hoping that is all it is.

One other thing I thought I would mention that I have never noticed before. When I open the house door to the garage the interior light automatically comes on for a moment??? What is that all about? Maybe it has always done it but I never noticed. Is that a security thing? Also any ideas as to why my seats default to memory 2 position. Possibly something to do with my passenger door issue?

Anway thanks for all your help. Everybody has been VERY helpful here on the forum. I hope I will be able to pay back some for all the info I have recieved.

Ok I got the panel off but I'm not sure which wire bundle it is because the door is working ok again. (for now) Here is a pic can you paint shop a circle around what you zip tied. Thanks. I'm PM you this message as well. Thanks for all the help.

Are you saying the positive terminal had heavy corrosion?

If so you also need to check below the battery to make sure the battery didn't leak onto the wiring below the battery box.

Underneath the box checks out ok as well as all the other grounds under the hood that is. I still haven't had a chance to check under the passenger side floor board but I was just going on the fact that the problems seemed almost exact with the other forum member.

Check the elecrical connections at the front edge of the passenger door inside the accordian plastic thing. These cars are known to have loose/bad connections there. Make sure when you remove the connector that all the pins are straight and clean.

Remove the speaker enclosure in the door. Once you have that out, you will be able to see where the wiring harnesses enter the door. The connectors that you will be looking for are in that area.

Man I hate to sound stupid but I see not connectors in the door. All are on the outside on the door with the pic I included. Is there anyway some one can snap a pic of what I am supposed to be looking at? I know that is asking a lot but I just can't find it. It has been kind of hard to diagnose because it doesn't do it all the time. The only constants I can say for sure is the passengerside door looses all power.

You have to pull the black accordian piece off the front edge of the door. Its located on the lead edge of the front of the door and connects to the body of the car. Inside the black accordian piece is the two harnesses you are looking for. I can snap a pic tomorrow if you are still having trouble locating it.

Well droptop was a great guy and helped me through it great. I think I was just mistaken as to where it was. Ok here is where I am now. Before I started working on it the door was working perfectly. I took the boot off and undid the conectors. I cleaned them off and inspected them throughly. When I put them back together I could never get the window to work again. No matter how much I wiggled. Of course my luck when I was putting the connectors back on a saw a spark, probably no big deal but you never know. I checked all the fuses anyway and they are all ok. What do you guys suggest now? The module? Why is it so spratic?
