Default Noisy engine!

Has anyone had problems with the engine sounding loud when idling after a long drive? Say a hundred or two miles. Doesn't seem to do it when driving and the preformance is not a problem. Thinking the cats system could be some of the problem. After it sets for 20 to 30 minutes, it's not there.

What makes you think the CATs are part of the issue. Please describe year of C5 and MODs.

It sounds like a diesel but not as loud. I thought maybe something in the cats because it doesn't make the sound after it has time to cool a bit. Maybe I'm over sensitive to the sound.

Check your normal idle rpm and your rpm after the long drive.
Is it higher for a while? what is you oil temp?

Also if a high mileage engine, you might try 10/40 or even 10/50 synthetic and see if that helps.

The milage is 69 K. Don't recal the temps being high, but will check next time. I use Mobil Syn 5w30 and AC filter. I have thought about K&N. any thoughts on this? I change the oil at 3 k miles. Still have 65% life now.
