Default Power Window Problem Question??

The drivers side window powers down but when going up it either doesn't go up/close at all or it will move upward an inch at a time, then it stops. I'll have to wait a few minutes and then it will close another inch, till it reaches it's closed destination. Has anyone ever had this problem. It sounds lika a faulty switch problem however, I'm not sure. Any help would help. Thanks, Paul.

I have had the same problem, but no solution. I would be eager to hear ideas as well.

I had this issue on my old TransAm and it was the window motor, there is a "thermal breaker" that stops the motor if it gets too hot and when it cools down again it will allow your window to go up a little more.

hope that helps

Same here... Replaced both motors in my 1997 TA WS.6 and it was simple and cheap. (Driver side did as you describe, would go up a bit at a time and stop, they have built in circuit breaker/stepper motor that gets overheated and makes it stop. Pass side was just tooo slow)

Wonder if C5 window motor replacement would be as easy and inexpensive?

Anyone have a writeup?

The C5 door wiring harnesses frequently have issues. Remove the door panel and move, wiggle and tap on componets and connectors/plugs until you find the loose connection. There have been many issues with the connectors in the accordian tube that connects the door to the body. You will have to remove the speaker enclosure to access that wiring harness and plugs.

Thanks guys.......Were the motors replacements, new or rebuilds? Also, where is the approximate location of the window motor? I assume in the door? Thanks.

Good news and info. My passenger door I can only control once in a while from the drivers side, all the time from the passenger side. Shops here can't figure it out, the problem comes and goes like the wind. I will take the speaker out and try and duplicate the problem. And then maybe figure why my horn does not always work....
