Default anyone have this problem????

Two things happened to me. I had to fix my seats in my 98 coupe. I took them out and now my memory doesn't work. I tried everything that I could think of. I am hoping it is something simple, please let me if anyone has any ideas. Second, did anyone ever have a problem where the a/c is working on the passenger side (dual zone a/c) and the drivers side comes out warm (yes I have the temp down to 60). A/C is charged up completely. I had this happen before, and I reset the computer by disconnecting the negative on the battery and it fixed it. This time it won't fix. Any thoughts?

No problems with my seats, but did have the same problem with the ac. The fix was to have the control head unit replaced-$300+ lnstall, but you could buy it and install yourself, wish I did, hope this helps.

Don't know the part number, Question do you have the duel control unit or the manual, it is the switches that turns on the a/c

Perhaps a fuse got blown during the removal, or reinstall, of the seats.
Sorry, but I do not know which fuse(s) to check. You might try
PM'ing Bill Curlee. He is one of the electical experts. Try displaying your codes, from the DIC, and posting them here as well.

I think the AC problem is a common one. I know that I have read about it here before.

Good Luck

Default Seats?

I pulled my memory seats and went through the wiring when I had the problem in my 99, Dumb question,, did you plug it all back in correctly and not miss something.

Also the connectors were dirty on mine preventing proper exit and return settings. I cleaned and tightened all the connectors,, put all the wires back in the factory positions and all was well.

The computer is in the seat bottom,, make sure it is also properly plugged in.

you didn't say if it would move at all with the controls,, only the memory. IF it doesn't move with the controls you have a power supply issue. No computer is needed for manual movement with the switches. 99 Nassau Blue

Sorry cant help on that but my father had a 03 Tahoe that they had to buy back from him because of the probelm similar to yours that they could not fix, everytime he put the vent on air came out the front blowers, and vice versa when he put the front blowers on! I am very good freinds with the owner of the local chevy dealer and I will ask him about your problem.

As far as the memory in the seats are concerned, the seats work fine, all controls, and the memory work for everything but the seats. I checked the wiring, and everything is in the right place. What holds the seats memory? The car's computer? I am really stumped by this and was hoping someone had something. This forum is the best place to find out all those quirky things with these cars. I still love them though. The a/c may be that head unit like you were saying. It is the dual zone. Is what you are referring to the actual mechanism where the controls are? Any more insight would be helpful. Thanks for everyone's input.

I had a problem with the drivers seat on my 99 on the way to the CI last year. I was driving with the seat back all the way for a while after the first stop. At the next rest stop we just took the fuse from the passengers seat and placed it in the drivers seat, then put the drivers one in the passengers side....... everything is working now Its crazy man! I think the fuse is like a circuit breaker or something.

Read all of the codes in the DIC. Your Seat Control Module is one of the monitored functions in the DIC! See if you have any SCM codes set!!

Please list and post all codes.

Okay, finally got my codes, I got A6 SCM no comm. I guess it is not communicating to the seat control module? Is that flat the black box tucked under the seat? Everything is plugged in, but there is one thing. I think I swapped these from the passenger and driver. I was trying to fix me lumbar, and I remember swapping them out thinking that had something to do with my problem, and I don't think i swapped them back. So before I take out my seats, and swap them back, can you tell me if these are interchangable? Maybe this is why the A6 SCM is not communicating? By the way, would I get any codes if I had a problem with my "control head unit" as I rported the probem with my A/C? thanks for your help Bill.

Default disable traction control and anti lock

When going over bumps (even very slight) at times I get flashing lights, "traction control disabled", "anti-lock brakes disabled". Anyone else ever have this problem? If I turn key off and restat car everything is fine. Seems to happen more if the weather is colder.

The seat control computer is undre the seat near the front of the seat bottom. Here is a picture of the seat from the bottom:

look under the motors at the top of the picture. I can not tell you if they have different part numbers but I can speculate that you either have a BAD connection or forgor to plug something in correctly or pluged it into the wrong place. My guess is that they are the same.

Go where you were last. Look for bent, burnt or dirty/corroded connectors.

I have an EXTRA nodule in my seat. So,,dont get confused. It is a heated seat controller.

Well, I took both seats out again. After checking all the wiring and determining that everythin looked fine, I switched the the boxes. Sure enough, the memory works fine now. So, either the one box in the passenger is messed up, or they are not interchangable. Thanks for all the help.

Default heated seats

Bill

How do you like the heated seats, and did you install them yourself? Do you need to be an upholsterer to do them? I've never taken the seats apart (or out yet). Where did you get them?

Thanks
Ted

The heated seat install was a moderately easy project. I installed them in my Z06 and 98 coupe. My wife and I both love them. It doesnt need to be cold out to enjoy them! It makes a long drive and a stiff back easier to live with. The install is not difficult and NO you do not need to be handy with upholstry! These cars are mass produced so, that means that the come apart easy. I can install the heated seat hardware for one seat in my Z06 in about 45 min start to finish. (NO BULL) Other than driling the hole in the seat control panel and making sure that it fits correctly, the rest is a snap. The coupe install is easier than the Z06!

If you want to do it, I can lead you through it. I have lots of pictures and KNOWLEDGE

I got a group purchase together with PFYC and got a REALLY good deal on the package!

My heated seat install is practly invisable other than the fuses and the control switch and a toasty BUTT!

It fun to turn the heater on a passenger and watch the expression their face!!

Here is all ofbthe install that you see.

Excellent MOD!!!

Thanks for the info Bill. I'm gonna add this to my list of mods to do. Does the switch control both seats or are there two heat settings?

I'm getting sick of hearing my brother brag about how great his heated seats are in his suburban!!!!!!!

Could be the temperature actuator that controls the temp door. Had one of those go bad before, not on my car though. Common failure.

Try resetting everything. Unhook the battery for like 5 mins and reconnect it. Turn the key on then activate the A/C. Worth a shot
