Yea, and the statement from another member was he couldn't understand how it could be happening.

I'm moving on! Quit giving out inaccurate information with nothing to back it up (or get a manual and read it yourself).

i dont feel im giving out inaccurate info the fact is they worked for 2 weeks before i had to reprogram that sir is a fact
there no way i drove around for 2 weeks with no sensors and not noticed it (as i always monitor the voltage- fluctuating a good bit suspecting oe battery about to fail) and you as anyone else that owns a c5 vette that if the dic has a problem it prompts it to it and the only way to get to anything else is to reset the code via the reset button and if not fixed it will do it again the next time the car is startde as well as ding twice when you kill the car to notify you of the problem
like i said i eventually did have to reprogram the sensors (2 weeks later)
but just because your shop manual says so cant make believe what i know and experienced for myself
sorry but dont tell me what i know happened
the point wasnt to discredit anyone or say you dont have to reprogram them cause like i said 2 weeks later i had to reprogram my own all i was saying is that mine worked for 2 weeks with no reprogram
i dont know why they did this but all i know is they did

rick maybe your 99 wont do it i dont know maybe i should stay out of anything pre-2001 related as i know things changed in 01 for vettes as i have an 01 coupe
totally different tire monitor system from 97- 2000
as i guess you seem to be the resident pre 2001 vette tire system guru
im moving on hail to the king
i guess next youll tell me those wheels on your car or from a 2001 and they work on your 99 without changing sensors
dont know dont care
i made up the whole thread just to dupe everyone on the forum and look like a complete idiot its nice to see i got to you to look like one by not beliveing what i said like i said hail to the king
anyone else whom doesnt believe youll have to sit and wait until the kings reign is over

Holy crap. You are nuts!

By the way, my car is a '99. It came with wagon wheels. The Y2K thin spokes you refer to in your ramble are reproduction rims. The existing tires were swapped and the original sensors were removed, placed in the new rims and returned to their original locations. They work like a charm, didn't need to be re-trained, and came up as I was pulling out of the tire shop.

I hope you keep visiting the forum as you obviously need to learn a lot about many things (grammar included).

It is obvious that the TPM questions have been answered by those that know of what they speak! Its been quite entertaining!

Seems like we will be reaching the end of this thread soon!

I get a message on the DIC sometimes saying, something like, "Serv Tire Mon Sys". When this message displays I can't read the tire pressure for one of my tires. At other times, all four read correctly.

Do I have a bad sensor or does it need to be reset? If reseting/retraining it is the answer, what is the process?

Default process

if it happens every now and then and fixs itself thats impossible (or so ive been told as sensors dont program and unprogram themselves)
the proper way to program your sensors is first get a strong magnet i used one off a subwoofer to do mine
turn the ignition to run not start clear all codes if any on the dic
press options until the dic goes blank press and hold the reset button for three or more seconds until fob training is displayed press options once and tire training should be displayed on the dic
hit reset to start the training it should be the driver front first hold the magnet over the valve stem the horn should blow once move to the passenger front repeat the magnet procedure it should blow horn once move to the passenger rear repeat finishing with the driver rear turn off car and you should be good

Good morning Jharms.

First I must apologize for another member's wise-*** comments. He is a nutcase and an azzhole.

You ask a good question. I see from your profile that you have a 1998. The symptoms you describe are somewhat common in the early C5's as your sensor batteries are probably reaching the end of their life. Your description of a particular sensor "having trouble being read by the receiver but eventually waking up" is a symptom of a battery wearing out (just like the batteries in a flashlight going dim as they drain). The batteries in these sensors are not intended to be replaced, although another forum member has had some luck breaking them open and serviceing them. (Try forum search - if it will work). There is also a company that will rebuild them (www.nericreations.com). Lastly, if you end up replacing them at some point, remember to get the correct ones. The designs changed in '01. Unfortunately the older version of the sensors are more expensive than the newer design.

PS - I also see that you are in Roundrock. There is a big Corvette show in Boerne on April 16th! Hope you can make it!
