Rattling Window Fix

What I had been doing wrong prior to that thread was turning the nut behind the interior light lense cover (red reflector in the door) not knowing that the nut was just a jam nut. This was not allowing the rear washer behind where the rod comes through the door to clamp the rod down. So rather than threading the rod through the regulator I was just moving the position of the rod and regulator relative to the inside of the door. (This all makes sense if you've tried the tip-in) Loosening the jam not and adjusting the rod did the trick and cured the rattle on the passenger side but not the drivers side.I examined the drivers front tip in nut (accessible from underneath the door, under the grommet) and it was tight. I took off the drivers side interior panel and found that the window regulator is not firmly fixed to the front tip in nut. The front tip in nut is only connected to a stud which the window regulator sits on but not directly attached to. There was a rubber bushing on top of the stud/rod but it had been pushed up so the window regulator had quite a bit of free play around the stud and would rattle something aweful when you'd close the door. I lubed up the rubber bushing and was able to get it back down all the way onto the stud and that cured the drivers side door.
This may not be very clear to many who have not tried the tip in or had their door panels off. If you have rattling windows and are adjusting the rear tip-in properly this is the next thing to check. Reply here or PM me if you need more clarification.
I will save this post and ask you question later when I can move my car out of the garage (waiting for new heads
)Thanks,
-Mike
