Anyways the power of the car easily over comes rear brakes allowing a burnout no line lock needed. The trick is to know how to do it correctly, you can't let the clutch go and then slam on brakes you will just bog and look really stupid. You have to get on them just enough to not allow fronts to turn. Only down side is you are going to go through rear pads really fast. But your right misinformation on here make me want to
No "maybe" in it. Unfortunatly very misinformed. Can't do a burnout without a line lock??? Thats laughable. And then we are supposed to "ask him what a line lock does"???? My gosh. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time.
I have seen people do burnouts without a line lock every time I go to the strip. In fact of all of the Z06s that I know of which regularly frequent my local track, NONE has a line lock, and they regularly do burnouts on drag radials. A member of my club with a '70 small block making way more power than I can hope to make and running low 11s threatening to hit 11 flat, on Hoosier slicks.....has no line lock.
I am one of the few people I know of who goes to the strip and actually has a line lock.

No line lock here...And I am pretty sure I can DO a burn out for how ever long I want On DR's.....And I don't thin k My car came with the line lock option!

It must have. After all, you cannot do a burnout without one. Check the glove box option codes
@Korreck, I have to say that there is nothing funnier than a know it all who doesn't. First the Vararam and now this. But hey, even a broken watch is right twice a day
Keep trying.

In case you guys have not noticed.... "Korreck" is the resident idiot of the Corvette Forum. You can always count on him to make a complete azz out of himself every time he gives his "opinion". The fact that he claims to be an engineer makes it even funnier.
For those that have been in some of his more amusing threads ........ can you imagine how his offspring turned out.
Oh yeah, "Korreck" put me on his ignore list....... I guess I hit a bit to close to home.
Well, as far as power braking is concerned, I know this can be done without a line lock since I used to do it all the time in high school (very easy to do with an auto tranny, but a bit tricky with a manual). However, I don't think I would want to do this in my C5 as she is my baby!
I have about 21,000 miles on my factory run flats. When they get down to the point where they need replacing I will probably take the car out to the drags and burn the tires down to the cords for fun!

I'm going to turn this over to Mark (mwagne16) and go back to the drag forum where I belong.

korreck’s vette must be running on vinegar… my 85hp Honda Civic will spin the wheels w/ the brake depressed… my vette… well, no comment. Vinegar boy is due for an informational douche… I think korreck is really driving a three cylinder geo metro… that would explain the difficulty spinning the wheel… you know that weight distribution makes it awfully hard to spin those 13” wheels… and the brake bias is probably very significant w/ vehicles w/ under 80 rwhp… I feel your pain, korrek. I would race you for pink slips w/ my stock Caprice, but I have no room for your piece of sh*t in my driveway. I suspect after your lame, vaginal post I could spin the rear wheel on my ten speed easier than you could in your “hot rod”… and oddly enough, they don’t make line locks for my huffy.

Now that's funny......... Now pay attention guys, "Korreck" hangs out in the "Drag Race" section now. So he knows ALL about it. You would be wise to take his advice verbatim.
What you presented was a lot of bull. Run flats don't get sticky. You can't do a burnout holding your foot on the brake. And a 13 sec car can't do better than 1.90 even with DR's.
So much misinformation here it makes me want to
You know, I looked at this again and there is not one, but two totally misinformed statements.
The first is obvious, about the burnout.
But the second
And a 13 sec car can't do better than 1.90 even with DR's.
is untrue as well.
This guy literally has no clue
I have a very good friend with a 1993 C4 who lays down 1.8x 60ft times like they are going out of style with Nitto DRs and has hit 1.7x on occasion, and I have never seen him break 13 seconds. He usually runs 13.1x.
In fact I have a slip in my hand right now where he ran against me and his nbrs were:
R/T .596
60' 1.785
330 5.315
1/8 8.327
MPH 81.08
1000 10.879
1/4 13.162
MPH 103.69

I wonder how his ego is doing now 2 threads in a few days still lookin like a jack @S$. He is probably one of those guys that is a "PRO" racer that only manages a 14.4 with a C5
