Default Two Fuel Pumps???

I have a 98 C5 and I need to replace my fuel pump because I am running 150 wet NX shot. I ordered a Walbro from Nitro Dave, but I was looking at my CV boot(cause I thought it was cracked) and I noticed a fuel pump on both sides(drivers & Passenger).

Do I need to order another pump from Nitro Dave? First time C5 owner here, totally weird that I have two fuel pumps.

Thanks,

Jason

There is only ONE pump (thank GOD!) What you are seeing is, there are TWO fuel sending units! One on each tank. The passengers fuel tank has a syphon pump that operates of the pressure from the other pump and that syphon pump is what keeps the drivers tank full.

Oh, ok...thanks!

Then how do I get to the pump itself?

You do not need to re-place your fuel pump just because you are running a 150 shot, the stock fuel pump will support up to 550 rwhp. Unless you have a stroker or H/C that is producing big HP numbers already, I would leave it alone, I used to run a 200 shot on stock motor with stock fuel system until I went with a stroker, my car now has 2 seperate fuel systems on it, 1 for the motor, and a stand alone system for the NOS. Save your money!!!

I know, but when I spray a 150 shot, I get bad detonation. I have checked everything, I changed the fuel filter, regapped my plugs, etc... When I run a 100 shot, everything seems to be fine, a second of detonation then it gone right away. When I put the 150 jets in, really bad detonation for about 1000rpms, then it goes away. I wondered about changing the jets, the norm is 62-33, going with 62-35, but I was told, if the fuel is not getting there, changing the jets will do nothing. The pump was 125.00(not too bad).

If you or anyone has any other ideas, I am all ears...

To change the pump, you need to run the fuel out of the car as far as you can and then remove the drivers side sending unit/fuel pump.

You will need a big catch pan to catch the remainded of the fuel in the tank.

So, the drivers side sending unit is actually the fuel pump as well?

Sorry for all the dumb questions.

Yes That is correct, Both sensors take readings on the tanks and comeup with a fuel level. If on or the other get out of range or give a bad reading the fuel computer tells the gague to go to empty and light the low fuel light.

The drivers tank has the pump and a level sensor.

I agree, the pump is inside a big plastic housing and has the pick-ups fitted onto the bottom of the pump. I'm not familiar with the setup you're getting, but the Lingenfelter system comes with the pump already inside of the plastic canister, so you basically just have to swap one fuel line and stick it back in.
