Boston is only a HOP-SKIP and a JUMP form where I live! I live about 3 miles from the Indian casinos in Ledyard Ct. If you want help, grab your better half and make a day out of the trip. It will only take me 30 min to install your CLB. Then you can let the Indians have some of your MONEY!
I leave to go out of town Friday will not be back until 26 April.
I live on cape cod. JUST did the bypass..... easy as pie. drop panel, turn on ING, pull fuse 25 disconnect and install bypass, install fuse 25 and turn off ING..... 25 MINs MAX... you need help let me know.....

Bill, Thanks again for your offer. I'll probably review the instructions again to see if I may be able to pull it off. Just hate to have it apart and be stuck. Have a good trip.

I did the install yesterday. Longest time was removing the panel and re-installing it. About 30 minutes. Got mine from Corvettes Of Houston. Text instructions and extremely easy to do. Don't wait for the column to lock up.

tdahl,
hey-thanks for offer to help out. forum guys are great. you make it sound so easy that i may revisit the instructions to see about doing it. did you use instructions that came with bypass or the instructions on the forum?

OK - sounds good. is there a secret to removing the panel without damaging it?
Less than two months after the dealership performed the recall on my C5, the column, the lock decided to stay in the locked position. NOTHING I could do woould get it to unlock, so I had to have it flatbedded to the dealership. The actuator was fried and I figured that it lasted 1500 actuations before dying. It's not a question of "if"; rather, it's a question of "when" yours will fail!
I echo this sentiment.
My '99 FRC had the factory recall done but this didn't stop the actuator from failing. The result of this failure was me getting the dreaded steering col. lock warning. Additionally, my car did the whole cutting of fuel to the engine thing, so I couldn't get it out of first. I had to have the car towed to a nearby dealership and have the actuator replaced. It sucked.

step by step on the baggie for the CLB from Thunder? raceing..... it was sooooo easy. My 16 year old and I did it together.... he pulled the fuse and put it back.... I drive knowing no CL for my 99...... late last year I did have a LOCK and was able to drive in first.... had to do a hard reboot and it was fine.... that was my wake up call. Didnt want the recall done as I dont want to get stuck at reduced power. You need help, let me know I am at exit four on cape, go up and down 495 every day........... will be in sudbury on weds, billrica on thursday and marshfield on Tuesday?

thanks - the responses convinced me to something - so I've order the bypass from Thunder.
I just picked up an 04 6spd. My buddy(vettenuts) told me this was a real important fix. I think I'll be ordering a kit in the AM.
I never realized what a problem this was(had an A4 for 5 years-no problems ever)
BTW did a shifter swap with the c6 unit and really like the change.
