Default best cam for a c5??

What is the best cam for a c5? My only mod is GHL Bullets and I plan to get a Halltech Stinger.
I don't want to go too radical, just something that will beef things up some.
Any ideas on price and installation costs?

Or is this not a good idea? A good cam makes the engine sound great.

Look into the futral line of cams. www.futralmotorsports.com They have some really good numbers and still have good street manners. I just ordered the f14 and hope to get some headers and a few other parts and have it installed in the next 2months. laters ditti

Without opening the exhaust, I would stay small like the Thunder Racing Old Man Cam or the GM Hot Cam if you want some lope at idle.

If you really want the extra power from a cam, first get yourself a set of long tube headers. As stated above, you need to open the exhaust system if you want to make good gains with an aftermarket cam. Headers will run you anywhere from $1250-$1800 new and with catalytic converters. Then if you want to remain emissions legal (depends on what state) go with a cam like a futral 226/226 114 lsa. Thunder racing also has a cam setup with a conservative idle 224/224 114 lsa. A total package including retainers, springs, seats, seals, gaskets, pushrods, and the cam will run you about $750-800. Installation for a cam setup at an average shop usually runs about $500-600 and the installation for the headers will run anywhere from $300-450 depending on the shop.

Just had a Futral FM-13 installed. Great cam! Good sound but drives well. Gained 42rwhp. I paid $2000.00 for the cam and install with springs rods etc. This also included a new timing chain (LS2), Z06 oil pump, and new spark plugs. Decent price I thought. Look into Futral. I am a happy customer!!

I'm looking at the Old Man Cam, 2-3, as my car is under warranty. No lope at idle and 30 rwhp increase.

I would recommend Carteks 2x cam as I have had it on my car and loved it and it seems to fit your description. I might have one for sale if your interested.

Should do headers first to get the full potential of the cam. The overall favorite in the ls1 world is the t.r.224 on a 114 hands down for good reasons!! Should have been my choice with almost if not a stock like idle, but turns on anything beyond that.
