I've never seen a stock Z06 ever get below 12.2 in the quarter... and the 12.2 was with a redline launch by a seemed-to-be skilled driver.
They either need tuning, and/or headers, and/or cam, and/or cold air intake, and/or drag radials to get into the elevens.
2.) Buy an LS7 Crate Motor from GMMP in the fall of 2005- add the dry sump system. Upgrade tranny and Diff.
3.) Add a Vortech or Procharger Blower. Andy @ A&A will be happy to help

It sounds like you want a car to go drag racing with. The C5 is not meant to be a drag car. IMO, if all you want to do is go fast in a straight line at the dragstrip, your best bet would be to go for the Mustang, or maybe a Camaro or Firebird. Those cars are more straight line cars, where the C5 is more of a car for all aspects of performance, including corners. To me the C5 is a drivers car. I'm not saying you can't drag race a C5, I'm just saying you'd probably get more bang for your buck drag racing with the Cobra.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I think the trail of broken parts strewn behind a C5 at a dragstrip would cost more than a trail of broken Cobra parts.
I bought my Z06 because I wanted a fun car that could carve a corner too. To me that's what the C5 is about. My Z06 will probably never see a drag strip. I'm not knocking the guys that take their C5s to the dragstrip, I'm just saying I won't be doing it with mine and I think (bang for the buck) there are other cars better suited for it than a C5.
Maybe it's just the fact that I think the C5 is a beautiful car and I wouldn't be able to force myself to hammer the hell out of one at a dragstrip. I dunno.
The same with a Viper. I think it would be a waste to buy a Viper just to take to the dragstrip.

The Viper is a nice car and definitally will turn heads but I would rather spend a little less money and get something thats still a real head turner! The 03/04 Cobra's are some real beasts on the street but I know if I go cruising around town the average person is just gonna say, "ya another mustang!" and they don't have a removable roof pannel. (convertibles are out of the question). For the money, the C5 has the looks and has the option of coming with a removable roof pannel. I would really like to get the C5 but I don't want to spend more money for mods then I actually pay for the car itself. Can I break into the low 11's without a blower? What kind of mods would I need to reach this goal? I know if anyone is gonna be able to help me it's the people on this site. I thank all of you for your time and I hope to hear from you guys soon!
PS: Can anyone tell me if the SLP ZL7 Performance Pac is as good as they say it is. It claims to give your C5 Coupe 427 Horsepower. Anyone have torque #'s for this? What would a 427 Horsepower C5 Coupe run in a 1/4 mile?

Buy a nice C5 in the mid $20s, add an intercooled Magnacharger with 5psi of boost($6700 plus installation and a new hood). And you will have 11's for around $33K and be very reliable for everyday driving......
The magnacharger at 5psi on the stock compression of 10 to 1 on the LS1 motor is very safe...

The Vette would cost the least to go 10s. If your all about performance which I am...You got 2 options, TTI Stage X turbo 346 built motor or a Nitrous fed 346. The nitrous fed 346 is the most cost effective way to go 10s and its pretty easy if you ask me in a corvette.

The mininum needed to go 10s:
CCW Drag Package
3.90 Rear
Ram Clutch
Basic Bolt-ons with tune(headers, intake)
TNT 150 shot

1. Drive the Viper and compare with the Vette. Ride and comfort.
2. Everyone has a Mustang. And everytime they see another one, they want to race. You'll get tired of that. Been there, done that.
Korreck, that's the best post I've ever seen you do
