anyone put the bypass on their throttle body yet to make it run cooler ?
it says on directions it's a five minute job (wrong) it took me about 30 minutes and it looks like crapp had to run it on top of throttle body because bottom hose is too short . maybe I missed something anybody have same problem?
Mine came with a length of hose and i was able to mount it under the throtte body and attach it to the radiator hose with tie wraps. Unless your looking for it, you dont see it. I will try to take a picture of it and send it to you. What is your e-mail address? my photobucket account is FULL!
I did the TB bypass a couple of years ago. It was relatively inexpensive and it only took about 30 mins of my life. I did this in conjunction with some other air intake mods and without conducting any Dyno testing. I think it's one of those mods that will be benifited in conjunction with other engine mods. I do feel quite a bit difference in power, but I do have a totally different air intake system from stock.
At 60 cubic feet a second, air is ingested into the intake... this air is ingested at ambient temperature.. the air is "IN" the throttle body for a millisecond... removing or bypassing the the throttle body heater will drop the temperature from operating coolant temp ( 190 F ) to an under hood convection temperature ( around 120/130 F ) at this reduced temperature the air would have to remain in the throttle body for 5 or 6 seconds in order for the ambient temperature to drop "1" degree. So the MOD is absolutely useless.... the air isn't there long enough to be cooled. this is why your car runs better in the winter when the air is more dense at ( 20/30F ) the Throttle body temperature has no effect on ambient temp be it summer or winter... ingested air goes in at the same temperature that Mother Nature delivers it. Increased dyno numbers from this mod are a joke.. much like 80 % of the advice given on this forum......

WOW,... GEEE I'm just glad I not one of those "fools" that put inter-coolers on any type of forced induction And the FACT is our engins do NOT like high temps! All this was done to achive approval in the politicly charged enviorment of G.M. during the late '80s'. The Honchos most of whom were the same names that eliminated ANY part of the word "PERFORMANCE" in the american car vocabulary during the early '70's. Its all relitive,... as a package the abysmal "skip shift" and the heated throtle body were sold as "economy" features, its why we didnt pay a gas guzzler tax." The super heated" throtle body simply makes the engine run lean witch I guess, makes some one happy
