Could be a leakey injector or even a dirty injector. I would see if there is an exsessive fuel pressure loss at engine shut down which would indicate that the injestor/s are leaking.

A leak down test will tell you if a lifter is leaking and which one. It basically allows you to pressurize the fuel system with the engine off and monitor the rail pressure. If the pressure drops too soon (don't know the exact time) you have at least 1 injector leaking through. Then the test requires unplugging and re energizing the system to verify which one is leaking. I don't have the tools to do this test but if you can find someone who does you can pinpoint the injector or at least prove it is or is not an injectory. 99 Nassau Blue
