I got the fronts off with a breaker bar...I am concerned about the rears. I don't think I will have enough space to fit a bar in. Any suggestions? Thanks
try positioning the bar in a way that you can lower the car slowly onto the bar at a angle that will use the car weight for pressure, you have to lift it up so that you still have a jackstand for safety.
Careful using the car's weight...just for safety's sake.
Another possibility is to use a shorter bar, and a hammer. If you do this make sure it's a 1/2" drive!
Do you have a compressor?
I tell you what, a $250 compressor (was an xmas present) and an impact gun have more than paid for themselves in my garage...it makes very easy work of this type of thing. Shocks, brake brackets etc. Just an idea.
I didn't have a lot of swing room, but a breaker bar worked on my rears. Do you have the car high enough? I personally wouldn't use the car weight. Someone just broke a rear caliper bolt and is now dealing with that problem. Not to say you will have the same problem, but at least with your hands on the wrench you can "feel" is the bolt is not breaking loose whereas with the car weight it will come loose or break and you won't know until later.
21mm wr. and a hit from breaker bar or 1/2" ratchet(hold wr. and strike side w/ heavy object)there's 125 ft/lbs of tq on those from the factory, no need for heat
i just did mine and you need to position the breaker bar in the down position and sit behind the car and either pull it towards you with your hands or push it away with your foot, depending on what side you are doing. worked for me. did the same on the front to.
