The HPIII fails to alter the TCC Slip Table and the P1870 error code will eventually be set.
Don't believe me??? Call and ask the Hypertech people yourself. Make certain you ask for their C5 Corvette specialist.

MPH is detected on the output spline shaft of the rear diff. The only thing that affects the speedo on a C5 is a change in overall rear tire heigth.

I still believe my situation was unique. And now maybe someone else has "jonined the unique club".
So many things have to happen to get the slip code error. First off, the slip is only tested for in "4" - and only starting at a certain speed, and it has to happen for "xx" duration.
Since my 2002 had the 3.15 from the factory, the 8.6 percent change of the 3.42 upgrade may have been a borderline error condition that needed a certain type of driving to set the code (which finally hapopened one day. Remember, my C5 is not a daily driver).
And there is always the other possibility that the car had been reprog'd when the 3.42 was installed.
stromadd ;
did you buy the car that way, or did you do the 3.42 mod after you owned the C5 ?
And if so, did you do the swap yourself, or did you pay someone to do it for you? And lastly; did they do a reprog with the 3.42 upgrade ?
.
