Default Can cut titanium pipes be repaired???

Ebay shows a recent post for z06 mufflers/pipes that have been cut while being removed. Could a competent muffler shop put them back together?

Yes they can be repaired but not likely by a muffler shop. Ti needs to be Tig welded and by someone that is familuar with welding Ti. I have never seen a "muffler shop" with a Tig welder let alone one that can weld Ti. I would check around to your local fabricators and find one with Ti experience.

It has to be TIG welded with a special process! he shop must be familuar with Ti and set up to weld it. They have to use a special shield gas and it has to be very clean!! Unless your getting them for a steal, find an un-cut set. You will probably speng $75 $100 to get them welded.

I have seen them go for $375-$500 IN THE C5 PARTS FOR SALE SECTION.

This sounds like a good price on a set for sale on Z06Vette forum.

Stay away and get an uncut set, IMHO

Less hassle and less worries.

They are for sale all the time here and on www.z06vette.com

Good luck

I tried welding titanium once. Have you ever seen magnesium burn? Titanium is not quite as aggressive, but almost! That's the reason it has to be inert gas welded.
