Today when I started my 99 C5 the low voltage light came on and then went off as the voltage increased on the guage. Then the engine stalled as I was driving down the street. It started right up again. However, Later in the day when I came out of a parking lot and started it the engine guages all didn't show any life at all. The car stalled again and when I restared everyhting was normal./ However, it stalled again on the way home. I finally got it in the garage and now the check engine light comes on and, if the car starts at all it runs very rough. As soon as the engine dies I cannot get it to restart at all for several minutes and then it ony runs a few seconds. Any advice? Looks like I'm going to have to have it towed to the dealer with a real expensive repair.

Codes....we need codes!
Computer Codes 1997 to 2000 Corvette
The "diagnostic display" mode is entered with the following procedure:
1) Turn on the ignition but don't start the engine.
2) Press the "reset" button to turn off any warning messages
3) Press and hold "options"
4) While holding "options", press "fuel" four times within a 10-second period.
When first engaged the on-board diagnostics go into an "automatic" mode which shows all parameters: PCM-TCS-RTD-BCM-IPC-radio-HVAC-LDCM-RDCM-SCM-RFA. If there are no problems, you will see "no more codes" on the ICP display.
The computer will show two kinds of codes, "current" and "history," designated "C" or "H". A current code indicates a malfunction is present in the system whose module is displaying data. A history code indicates a past problem.
When the screen displays "manual diagnostics," select the desired module by pressing the "options" button to go forward or the "trip" button to go back. Press "gages" to go forward or "fuel" to go back.
To exit the diagnostic mode at any time, press "E/M". If you want to erase or "clear" codes, press "reset."
Thanks for the reply but i cannot get to the codes. I tried to but as soon as I turn the ignition on the DIC just flashes and the parking lights flash on and off real quickly. It sounds like a relay is going on and off really fast too and the car will not start. The first thing that come on is the odometer and it just flashes quickly and will not let me get to the codes.

Reason: meant relay instead of reply

Hmmm. I assume that your battery is fully charged and connections are clean. Can anyone else help here?
I'll check the connections but the car will crank okay. Just won't start. Anybody's help is appreciated. I'm looking at having to have it towed to the dealer if I can't get it going. Sure would like to avoid that expense. Thanks again.

That is a bunch of them. Can anyone make any sense of it? Thanks

Wow...that is a bunch indeed. I sent you a Private Message...
Thank you so much for the help. I caaled the dealer and was told there were a number of things it could be. I went out a few minutes ago and it started fine. The check engine light was still on and it ran a little rough when I drove it. I decided the best thing for me to do was get it to the dealer while I could without having to have it towed. Who knows how much this is going to cost but I have to get it fixed. I'll let you know how it turns out. Thanks again for your help.

I see you posted this in the C6 section too...they recomended a new battery. Just because it starts, doesn't necessarily mean that it is good. Let us know how this comes out.
Took the Vette to the dealer yesterday. They worked on it all day and can't find the problem. Shop is closed for the night so I guess they will try again tomorrow. Suppossed to have "their best Vette" man on it. Said he thinks it is a short somewhere but it is still not fixed. This is going to cost a fortune.
