Help finding 4:10 gears
Hi, would anyone be able to direct me to a reliable supplier of 4:10 gears for my '97 M6? Also a cost estimate of what I should be paying would be greatly appreciated. Plus how much should I be paying for the rebuild kit and what should the kit include. Someone here in Daytona Beach is trying to sell me a kit that includes bearings and the kit is nearly $400. This seems rather high. They are selling the gears for $410. and that seemed more like it. Thanks for your help.

Actually it sounds like they are asking more for the gear set than they are worth..
Are you planing on doing this yourself? There are many specialized tools (and un-documented procedures) required here..
I build motors for both cars and race bikes, but I wouldn't attempt a gear set swap in our cars.. Not the same as an F-body diff.
DTE in Indiana does a great job, but it's going to cost you about a grand.

I've got a corvette mechanic here in Daytona Beach that is capable of doing the work. He likes it when I furnish the parts. What parts should be in the rebuild kit that are necessary for this install? I would think that gaskets, "o" rings, etc. would make sense, but what about bearings and such? Thanks for your response, also do you know of a supplier for the 4:10 gears? Thanks.

look at the Parts section I think I saw someone selling new 4.10 gears there at a discounted price.
