Pulled battery, now engine cranks, but no fire.
I know I have seen something similar here in the past but can't find it. So do I need to pull a specific fuse, follow some rebattery procedure, or something much worse. (please no computer please no computer)
Thanks is advance.
You sure there's enough gas in it?? I ran out with the gauge on "1/4" tank one time...and pretty much anytime I'm under 1/2 tank it takes a good 4-5 seconds of turning the engine over before it starts up.
Is it setting any codes? Check and make sure. Give me the codes if it does come up. Your BCM may not be synched with the PCM anymore.

From what I understand, it's caused by a loss of synch between the PCM and the BCM. To re-synch manually, you have to:
Turn ignition on (do not start) for 11 mins or longer.
Turn off for 30 seconds or longer
On for 11 mins
Off for 30 seconds
On for 11 mins
Off for 30 seconds
Try to start it. I bet it'll work. If you screw up any part of the process you will have to start over. The times listed are a MINIMUM. As long as you do at least 11 mins/30 seconds minimum, you're fine.
Unfortunately, ever since this incident, unplugging the battery, even for a moment, causes the synch to be lost. I have never figured out the cause. I just don't disconnect the battery anymore. I figure replacing the BCM will probably fix it, but I don't feel like doing that
I just hook up a battery tender in the winter now and it's been fine.My theory is that the problem is like a BIOS battery in a computer. It stores the system's settings when you unplug it from the wall. I think there's some sort of similar backup battery in our cars, that if you disconnect the main battery for long enough, will cause the backup to die.
I had a big thread on this on a few boards, when this happened 2 years ago, and no one had any clue.

What a crazy procedure, but if it works, it will be the best hour I ever wasted. Thanks for the heads up on the problem cropping up in the future. Will expect it if my battery gets disconnected.

Here is your update. After following your resync procedure, car fired right up last night. No problems today and I am back to driving the vette. Who knew how much I could miss that car after only a week. So thanks once again, saved my wallet and my pride.

I disconect my battery this weekend reconnected it and my DIC went crazy. Disconnected and reconnected the battery DIC was fine. I did not do any electrical work. Today I put the airconditioning on and the driver side was hot and the passenger side had cold air. After I tried looking in the manual for something simple I could do easily. I disconnected and reconnected the battery with the air off everything works fine. Does any one have a clue what happened? I happy but confused.
Thanks
John
PS: Never diconnect your battery

I wish I knew what was causing the problem too. I'd hate to spend the $$ to replace the PCM and the BCM and such, especially with the need for reprogramming. I just leave my battery connected and I'll just have to re-synch every 5 years or so when I get a new battery.
