Subdriver, those wear numbers are excellent! It just goes to show that there truly are better oils out there for the LS1. Everyone assumes that just because GM puts Mobil 1 in the C5 at the factory, that it's the best choice. But it's not. My oil analysis and the one you just posted is proof! I've always been a fan of Amsoil's 0w30, it's an excellent oil that I often recommend to people who cannot find German Castrol 0w30.
I have seen incredibly low wear numbers in my oil analysis reports with the use of German made Castrol Syntec 0w30. I've yet to see another oil analysis report from an LS1 or LS6 powered vehicle which looks as good as the reports I get. Mobil 1 5w30 just doesn't have as good of an HTHS (high temperature high stress) number as this oil does, so when you drive hard, the German Castrol is going to protect things so much better. The proof is in the reports!

Thanks Patman, I agree. I appreciate the positive comments.

Still would love to see tests to determine how well these wonder oils are carrying the heavy metals in suspension. In my opinion oil analysis comparisons assume all oils do the same job of carrying the heavy wear metals in suspension and not redepositing them in the engine. That is a huge leap of faith. An oil that didn't carry anything is suspension would send a bunch of the oil analysis fanatics scrambling to the oil store because the analysis looks so good!
I wonder how much Mobile pays GM to put their logo on the oil fill cap.
I would guess it isn't much more than supplying oil to GM for free for the initial factory fill which would save GM about $1 million a year. For Mobil, that is what, one superbowl commercial?
After watching the news tonight reporting on the GM stockholders meeting, it appears GM needs a lot more than $1 million.
I humbly disagree. If you open your owners manual and read it, you will see that GM requires an oil meeting GM Standard 4718M. All the owners manual says is that Mobil 1 meets this standard (which it does).
PATMANs oil analysis indicates there are better oils on the market. I just recently had another forum member (LS1 C5) who had been running German Castrol give AMSOIL Series 2000 0w30 a try. After running the oil for 3281 miles, he submitted the oil to Blackstone labs. The results:
PROPERTIES
ALUMINUM 2
CHROMIUM 1
IRON 6
COPPER 13
LEAD 3
TIN 1
MOLYBDENUM 4
NICKEL 0
MANGANESE 0
SILVER 0
TITANIUM 0
POTASSIUM 0
BORON 38
SILICON 10
SODIUM 1
CALCIUM 2410
MAGNESIUM 795
PHOSPHORUS 1012
ZINC 1144
BARIUM 0
If the lab result show that Amsoil results in lower wear, why does that mean nothing? Mobil 1 is an excellent oil, but, just because GM pushes it, that does not mean there are not better oils for your car.

I'm sorry but all the lab report says is that the oil has less metal in it. What it doesn't say is whether it's because the oil doesn't carry much material in suspension or, in fact, the oil is promoting better wear.
I will never run mobile 1 in any of my cars again. The weights of their oil are all off. A 10W30 is like running a 10W20. I had a slight oil consumption problem and went to a Rural Purple 10W40 problem solved…... Now my AMW catch can doesn’t catch too much my oil says in my motor

Terry Dyson makes a good living out of reading oil analysis reports and he's convinced enough that he believes in German Castrol 0w30 enough to run it in his own vehicles! Do you think he would do that if he felt the oil analysis results weren't trustworthy?
Nobody else subscribes to your theory of "oil not holding wear metals in suspension"
