Is the 'shifter' the actual shift lever coming from the tunnel? What are the pro's and con's of doing this mod, any better ideas to improve throw and height? Anyone know how hard of an install it is?

Thank you,

It includes the whole "shifter box" which of course has the shifter lever and the ****.
It's very easy to install and the throw is shorter, the stalk is shorter and more precise in my opinion. I love it in my '04 Z06.
Do a search and there is a thread on the install process.

Good Luck!

I love mine. You replace the entire shifter assembly as stated so it is very straight forward and very easily reversable. I keep all my original parts just in case I ever sell.
Go to C5 General and on page 2 there is an excellent write up by Patches on the C-6 shifter. He talks about the difference between it, the stock shifter and the hurst. Probably everything you want to know.
...any better ideas to improve throw and height? ...
Read post #8 in this thread http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1098283 for a very, very simple way to quickly lower the height of a stock setup. Its something you can try even if you're going to get a new shifter.
The hardest part of putting in a new shifter, no matter the brand you choose is disassembling the center console. Its not hard, just harder than actually doing the shifter replacement.
I don't know about shift rattle in C6 shifter but most of the time those rattles come from setups where an aftermarket **** is used in place of the stock ****. There are lots of threads on shifter vibration if you search for them.
Good luck! Try the suggestion above first. It will lower your stock **** about an 1" which will feel like a shorter throw too!
